Thats exactly how MS baited gamers away fromm the Playstation and then left them hanging in development halfway through the generation. They know they need them and they know if what they deliver is good people will buy it.

How so? Xbox gamers have better multi-plats most of the time. Have Xbox Live, which they prefer over a crappier free service. And they gave Xbox gamers the most amazing non movie games, which were all blockbusters.

Xbox Live was something that people fell into and then it became popular. Remember you must pay for Xbox Live...so people accepted it on their consoles opposed to PC's. You have no choice on a closed platform and Microsoft learned that lesson early, which is why they like to keep Xbox Live closed and controlled at all times.

Non-movie games...heh...great insult...but its still wrong. Sony likes using cinema themes to tell the story of their games, but theres plenty of gameplay (look at Halo 4 cinematic quality vs the previous Halos and understand the difference in storytelling). It wasn't even their exclusives, but rather that they leveled the playingfield in third party titles which Sony had more of the generation previously. Microsofts only good E3 was 2008 when I joined this website and wooed gamers over to them by bringing the top third party titles Tekken and Final Fantasy over to them, leveling the playingfield in third parties further. Core gamers ate it up. Now in order to keep the third party games more appealing on their end they paid for DLC.

Only two Xbox games ended up being "Blockbusters"

1) Halo

2) Gears

The only games MS has had full 100% franchise development on was Fable, Forza and PGR.

Everything else was a gameplan.

Movie games...lol.

Microsoft will win next gen for sure. It'll actually be the first generation that they can chock up as a console sales win for themselves. The place that gaming has gone to is right where MS needs it to be. With the yearly Maddens and CODs they're sure to move the most consoles. People care more about online gaming than the bells and whistles that comes in the box. Oddly enough, I only play one game online and it's neither Madden nor COD.
As long as MS comes out the gate strong in the US they'll take a sizable lead in the beginning. It's obvious that Nintendo's classics and Sony's variety appeal less to today's gamers than XBOXs Call of Duty online community.

Ah, so this is why MS finished in last place this gen? Quite logical.

PosPlatformHardwareSoftwareTie Ratio
5 Xbox 360 (X360) 77.31 791.76 10.24
6 PlayStation 3 (PS3) 77.33 707.14 9.14

Not in terms of software. Hardware numbers is far from everything.

(Which by the way is why I have said all along that PS2 was far greater than the DS.)

Choose you words wisely

True, you'll get banned for that, be careful.

@STAGE: Seriously... You are not tired of this. The "gamers" you are talking about have NO PROBLEM with Microsoft. When will you stop to believe that every gamers out there think like you? Esp. those who favor Microsoft : we do not feel like that... And it does not make any sense for me to have Sony loyalists always coming out with this argument... Like the Xbox Live Gold ones... You do not see any value in it so you are coming with your "everyone" or "all gamers" think it is not a good deal and blah and blah... Guess what, you are not representing all gamers... Fortunatly...

Sounds kinda like the blue ocean strategy of the Wii.

Except the Wii was trying to bring games to non-gamers. XBone is trying to bring better TV to non-gamers.

Again, MS can look at profits and market share gains in their own regard, never mind Nin/Sony, to be able to make their confident claims. But then again I think MS only has eyes for Sony. I wouldn't bring up Nintendo as a Sony defense.

Did you forget the original comment you replied to? It was about MS being in last place.

Your argument was based upon evaluating all companies, not MS evaluating itself.

I mean, I understand that you're attempting to back away from that original argument now that you realize how silly it was, but I haven't forgotten.

lol fine, so I got carried away. Then I guess Ill stick to the "MS doesn't care about last place nearly as much as you do/ profits > last place" point.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

You are typing, but saying absolutely nothing. I understand everyone has their own opinions and I've never argued that.

Microsoft thinks were all idiots. That is why they are doing what they announced.

The problem is, there are a good number of people that are and will swallow that with a smile.

Hopefully i am optmistic that aside the hardcore MS fans, no one else will be fooled by this.

Well, no matter how well it does, it's safe to say that if you buy the Xbone, you deserve to get the Xbone.

I love MS attitude. The HD sucessors can't come fast enough. I really hope that the game industry will throw all it's weight behind them so that they all can go down in flames together.

I LOVE ICELAND!

I read the whole article and couldn't find any sign of arrogance from MS.
