I would say that it has a higher chance to be successful in the US.
Based on the success of the 360. It might not be the case this gen but I think that it does have a higher chance than the ps4.
I think the XBO has a higher chance of taking the US market once again. It still up for anybody at the beginning of the gen but Xbox is synonymous with the US. Doesn't bother me though, since the PS4 is probably gonna kick ass and take names just about everywhere else.
I don`t know if they will win the US. My guess is that they won`t.
XB1 has 2 strengths: Kinect2.0 and media/TV functions.
Although, to me, Kinect only offers a refined experience, it`s integration with tv functions are good and might appeal to people. I just don`t see your average Kinect user buying na expensive console just for the added functionalities and that NFL deal.
It`s, so far, the best proposal, on the media side, yet, with the basic experience already provided by the first Kinect, impossibility of using Kinect 1 on this console and the higher price, it will have a tough time to do as well as Xbox 360, which has been dominating the US market for some time now - by outselling the competition non stop.
In the end, there are a number of reasons on why XB1 could really do well and other reasons on how that might not happen in the end.
But to me, the bad will outweight the good as i think the bad carry more weight than what XB1 has to offer so far.

I will be betting on it being around 50-50 in the US in the beginning at least.
The have an NFL contract-'Merica.
They have the Call of Duty and the Halo-Americans like shooters as much as Japan likes their JRPGs.
They have EA on their side. EA will do ANYTHING to make sure this console succeeds. They will do Madden exclusivity if it doesn't work at 1st, maybe even a couple more. (I firmly believe that EA will be hurt this gen a lot)
Microsoft is an American company. They know how Americans think. They know what Americans want. TV Sports and Call of Duty.

Wtf, xbox didn't win the US last gen, th wii his still ahead in NA

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

this is my thoughtsf exactly. Without the year lead or a price advantage, XBO doesn't have anything tangible over PS4.

I have a bit of insider information about the pre-order levels at the GAME store in the UK and can say that the levels of interest in Xbox-One in the UK is far higher than the PS4 if pre-orders are anything to go by. I can't give out exactly numbers but after only 3 days the Xone had more preorders than the PS4 total since they started taking them.
It's not to say things won't change but the PS4 will have an uphill battle.
