I don't understand how this is logical. Everyone seems to think without a shadow of a doubt that XBO will take US by default. Huh? For two generations straight US was Sony dominated, and before then was Nintendo territory. 360 didn't really even dominate US,was better than PS3 but only just as good as Wii.

Every new generation it is suppose to be a blank slate. It goes without saying that brand recognition and loyalties will play a part, but we have learned that those things can change rather abruptly for a consumer. 

360's success in Western territory can be attributed to a few things. It came out first and Westerners are highly entitled and impatient. Second, it was cheaper than PS3 but offered similar capabilities.

But now it is very likely PS4 will be out first, if only for a few months. At worst they will be out at the same time. They will not be cheaper(or at least by that much) because Sony isn't held back by expensive R&D and components.

If it is about the XBO's TV functions......just no. Will it draw in a new and excited crowd for what it offers? Yes, but with its new abilities not available for....oh, 80% of the world what will that even matter? PS4, for the most part right now, has the hardcore gamer on lock. THOSE are the ones running out and buying expensive consoles at the beginning of each generation. The casuals that the Wii, PS3,360, and XBO will be going for are what sustain the sales for years to come.

There is also the little fact that even with Sony pushing a Gamer centric initiative, they WILL have comparable TV functions. Sony will most likely emphasize Streaming capabilities such as Netflix. Cable TV's market share is being encroached by streaming services and for good reason. DVR/TIVO means nothing when by default you can watch what you want....when you want. Netflix has already started to have FULL ON TV SHOWS up and ready to go, and bringing back dead shows too.

At the end of the day, the US/UK market is still any man's game. Yet it most assuredly doesn't belong exclusively to MS.

Because Xbox 360 won there and our minds tend to go for the simplest logic.

Truth is, we just had one crazy gen and we don't know what the next will bring. The only thing I'd say is 99.999% guaranteed is MS not winning in Japan.

Well, OBVIOUSLY the Xbox one is targeted to US. And MS obviously expects to sell the most there... and they are expecting one billion consoles sold. Its obviously MS expects every US citizen to buy 3

Um...yes. But my statements are derived from actual  verifiable data/statistics.

• Japan has NEVER accepted the Xbox line. TRUE
• US consumes the most and gives the least in the world. TRUE
• US hasn't ever shown complete loyalty to any one console for long. TRUE

i give it to the US because of xbox live and subscriptions continuing for the those communities,plus it is an american company and the 360 was a success,it is still just a guess though

NFl,sport and tv stuff doesn't hurt either,plus that exclusive annoucements of cod

MS has targed many a product towards the US market.......not all were successful. They throw a lot of money around and sometimes things start to stick, that is all.

And yea, 1billion is a redundant number. Was that suppose to be just US or worldwide???
