Forums - Gaming - At this point what advantages do Consoles have over PC? (Updated)

I meant installation of the software. PS3 has mandatory installs for most of its games doesn't it? If PS3 can handle it in a user friendly way, I'm more than sure the Xone will.

Few games have mandatory install on PS3... no First Party have that... and I played only a game with mandatory install BioShock (BioShock 2 and Infinity didnt have anymore).

There are mandatory patches to play online but offline you can play without install them.

And a hint... BioShock mandatory install is almost 15 minutes long... I don't want that for any console.

Around the Network

- Price if you don't buy that many games since console games are 20-50% more expensive

- Ease of use I suppose

- Some exclusive games

surely the average joe just doesn't PC game, sure its not difficult i can game on my cheap ass laptop via steam and plenty of people play all types of games on the computer but just looking at console game sales tells its own story

How does the PS3 handle it then? A prompt auto-play like feature when you first insert the disc?

No prompt... you insert the disc and it run like every other PlayStation console... you press Eject and it stop and go back to XMB.

PS. You can disable the auto-play in Sytem Setthing but the default is that way.

No. A relatively small portion of games have mandatory installs.

I wanted to update this thread and continue the discussion about pc vs console gaming, especially since new info has been released regarding restrictions on the X1 and likely PS4.
