Forums - Sony - Sony explains why Gran Turismo 6 is debuting on PS3, not PS4

I think its a smart move by sony from a consumer standpoint.. In my case i wont be able to afford a PS4 at launch, and I m a fan of racing genre.. though i would love to try out DriveClub on PS4 but till the time i get a PS4, I can play GT6 on my PS3.. and I m pretty sure this will b the case with majority of the 77 mil user base.. who wouldn't be upgrading instantly..

Even if PS4 manages to sell 10 mill in a year there will still be 67 mill PS3 who wouldn't have migrated to ps4 and GT6 too would have been in the market for a year.. so i think company and consumer both of them will benefit

Now give me a good reason why it's not launching on PS3 and PS4 at launch for the loyal Playstation/GT fans who want to play their favourite sim on their day one system?

Because it's not ready?

No because they want to make more money by releasing a demo Prologue version first.

I seriously hope they have some hidden agenda...

There's no way DriveClub can compete against FM5, unless it's a revolution... They should have at least made GT6 a Vita/PS3 crossbuy/crosssave/crossplay to add consumer value. It's just not interesting at all atm. I don't even think it can sell well as things currently are : it would need vast improvements for your average PS3 user to trade in GT5 for GT6.

makes some sense, but not allot of sense. as the single biggest ip Sony has, it's the franchise sure to get Sony a multi-million unit lead right out the gate.

but if it somehow pushes PS3 hardware, then let it release on PS3.

This is a terrible reason. "We decided to put our biggest IP on our old platform instead of using it to push our new one because we have a crippling obsessive-compulsive disorder."

Well, Kazunori Yamauchi did mention that a PS4 version was still being considered. So who knows...

That's the big problem... FM never could compete with GT too... so it more easy to Drive Club sell more than FM5 than FM5 sell more than any GT.

Edit: I don't even know why I'm speculating, I don't even play this game. Forget my comment.

No that is NOT a terrible reason. That is a perfectly rational reasonable reason that totally does not need a lame attempt at aliteration to justify.

Everything must be in order - for there lies perfektion.

I don't agree, and to that end they should make GT8 before they make GT7. Think of the mindfucks!

Sony will probably sell PS4 at loss, maybe releasing GT5 on PS3 is a way of making up for these losses.
