Forums - Sony - Sony explains why Gran Turismo 6 is debuting on PS3, not PS4

It makes sense. I'm sure they'll release another GT7 on the ps4 at some point.

"You had GT1 and GT2 on PS One; GT3 and GT4 on PS2; then there's GT5 on PS3 and a space next to it."

This is a terrible reason. "We decided to put our biggest IP on our old platform instead of using it to push our new one because we have a crippling obsessive-compulsive disorder."

Plus "And the other factor is that on PS3 we have an install base of 70 million units. On PS4 on launch day we'll have an install base of zero units,"

maybe they need the money to " heal" the corporation with fast 300 mio dollar profit that gt6 generate pretty fast incl. dlc.

otherwise it is no smart decision.
on the other hand-maybe they are developing parallel.for ps3 and ps4 and they'll finish the ps4 game next year and release it winter 2014.As they should have enough exclusives in the first year they don't really need it in the firsr year.

2 GT's per home system then.

PSP had one GT.

Therefore according to Sony's OCD, Vita will have a GT. I'm happy.

Now give me a good reason why it's not launching on PS3 and PS4 at launch for the loyal Playstation/GT fans who want to play their favourite sim on their day one system?

yeah no kidding.  i can totally get why they want it on ps3,.. they need the money.  but not making it a cross-gen title to their brand new console that they really need to be a success (and doesn't have BC) is just a huge missed opportunity.

Also pretty terrible reasoning. Sony had to fight from behind to keep the PS3 alive, and will have to fight like hell if the Vita is to survive, and it's all because of their lackluster launches. It would be so much easier if they would just build momentum right out of the gate and shut the fuck up about their 10 year planzzz.

Well $600 for a console helped too... even with tons of high AAA exclusive at $600 the sales will never go up.

The biggest changed happened with PS3 was the Slim launch... that cheaper version put PS3 on the tracks again.

With exclusives like The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, and GT6, the PS4 will have struggles selling just like the Wii U. Especially when you consider all the cross-generational games coming out.

I don't know about that. If GTA, MGS, Final Fantasy, and so on would have been out in a reasonable time frame (first year, let's say) and launched exclusively on Playstation, I think it would have done quite fine even at that ridiculous price. Cutting the price when there are no games anyone cares about (which was the PS3's real problem at launch) does nothing. See: the GameCube.
