WOW Nintendo and few indie devs are making bad comments about the Xbox One...
Yep, Microsoft is doomed :)

Also, you should change your title for "Indie Devs"...

What difference does it make? They're developers after all, don't treat them in the same demeaning way Microsoft does.

I am one of them... We are a team of 5 working on an indie MMORPG. And guess what Microsoft is helping us a lot with our project by giving us ressources, softwares and the infrastructures (we are targetting windows 8 and RT).

It is funny how most of you have no clue of what you are talking about and when an indie dev is crying you are just blaming the big bad publisher instead.
Even if we are indie (by indie I mean that we are founding ourselves and plan to publish our games by ourselves too) we are just looking at some of them out them complaining and it is giving the indie community a bad image. I will not complain about Sony but we approached them and they are not as "nice with indie" as you think. But this is just expected as MS and Sony cannot please everyone; now we will not go out there and start bitching on them like some other indie studios are doing.

When you state that Microsoft is "demeaning" them... You are completly clueless.

Well I'm glad for you, and I hope all of those are just premature remarks and many other developers can get support from Microsoft like you. As one of those guys pointed out, I think this industry needs to give some more love to the indie devs.

Looks like indie devs will be on Wii U and PS4 this gen. I expect the Wii U to get more than the PS4 however, but we shall see.

But then again, I never expected any differently.

Also, quote trees guys!

The Wii U having more indy games than Sony? Interesting.

I'm just saying it's a possibility. There's certainly a lot of indie titles releasing for iOS/Wii U, PC/Wii U etc., and there's a lot more in the pipeline.

But obviously we can only make a sensible judgement when both consoles are up and running (so at the earliest 18 months from now), because it could just be an initial "rush".

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I remember when Xbox was the console for indie games, those days are clearly over. What a shame. But that Nintendo manager comments makes it even better. It's like microsoft are giving the competition a hand

But as small as indies are, ignoring them is just really stupid. Where would iOS be if it weren't for indie game developers? probably, no where

I remember when SOME xbox fans used to flaunt and tout the xbl indie scene as a point that the other two didnt have, now some are these same people are saying that indies arent important all of a sudden? Interesting.

No, when indie developers would piss and moan you could point at how MS supporting them more than Sony or Nintendo.

Indies even complain about Steam. That doesn't get much attention.

naw man, there were people using the whole indie thing in their fanboy war, now some of those same people are saying now its not important.

In the grand scheme, the indie scene isn't very important. Even if some people boasted. They don't really make system selling games.

Anyhow, this news doesn't mean MS won't continue to publish indie games. They published many on the 360, you think they're gonna stop now?

Nope but i can see alot less going to their system. And devs jumping ship to others. MS isnt the only game in town far from it. Even if it isnt very important, which i never argued i was pointing out the hypocrisy of some people.

First indy games matter...now indy gamers dont matter. This is the argument Xbox gamers have been using in convos with me for the past four years now on this site whenever MS has a AAA game drought. Make up your minds.

Perhaps some developers may jump ship. That's good thing, it means Sony and NIntendo are finally being reasonable to indie developers. But it doesn't mean its end of indie games on MS platforms.

You said people in their fanboy war are now saying indie games aren't important. I'm confirming to you that's pretty is accurate. They aren't very important. We aren't anxious for new consoles to see low budget indie games.

MS doesn't have a AAA drought. The 360 still has plenty of quality games being released on it.

I own a PS3 and a 360. The games I'm most anxious to play aren't exclusives.

Its was more open to devs, but MS closed themselves up and became more stringent on devs and started making devs pay them to put games on Xbox Live and now its even worse, they cant even go on without a publisher now. MS keeps making their lives harder and harder. They dont understand nor care for the trials of developers without publishers.

How was it "more open" when this is the exact same policy they already had in place? You cannot self-publish on 360, you cannot self-publish on Xbone. The way you say "they can't even go on without a publisher now" makes it pretty apparent you are not even aware that this has always been the case.

Also, before you go spouting off more nonsense, why don't we wait and see what they are doing with indies before writing it off? They have already said there are no more divisional game markets, indie and arcade games go right next to "AAA" downloadable retail games now. This is something you saw indies bitch about wanting constantly this gen, that unless your game was a huge seller, MS would not market it with ads and such and it would be buried in the XBLA market and be very hard to find. Now that problem is gone.

Is it a less indie friendly policy than Nintendo or Sony are going with next gen? No. Is it a deal breaker? Clearly not. If you owned a 360, I'd ask you to boot it up and take a gander at all the incredible XBLA games.
