How do full installs negatively impact you?  It allows you to insert the game, play the game while it is copying it to the hard drive, and then put the disc away so it won't be damaged anymore.

You could do pretty much the same on the 360 already, the difference was that you weren't forced to do so.

And I still remember many Xbox enthusiasts criticized that a few PS3 games require installing part of their data to the hard drive, while Microsoft completetly forbade mandatory installs. Now the Nextbox makes installing to harddisk mandatory for all games, but this is not an issue at all?

I think any issue with the mandatory install had to do with the wait to install, then the wait to play.  The Xbox 360 allows the gamer to install the game for better performance and less possibility of damage to the disc, but it wasn't an automatic process.

The difference with the Xbox One is that on the first play, as the game is loading, it's installing to the HDD.  Then, after the initial loading is done, while you're playing the game, it continues to install the rest of the game to the HDD.  A seemless operation compared to the PS3 or Xbox 360.

And NO, you could not buy a retail game with the Xbox 360, go to a friends house without the disc (you forgot it or weren't planning on playing at their house), and authenticate to his console and play that retail game.  You can't even do that with a PS3.

best part of the article, and all that needs to be said really...

"So make no mistake; Microsoft is gearing the Xbox One as an all-in-one set-top box, that just so happens to have some of the most powerful and robust video game hardware under the hood."

whats wrong with that?

How about the fact that gamers, the ones that pony up $500 for launch consoles and will be early adopters, are being treated as second-class citizens?

Here's how I see it. The Xbox One is an entertainment box that just happens to play the most popular games out there such as Call of Duty. The PS4 is a gamign console that just happens to have the most popular services on it like Netflix and Hulu.

Despite sharing similar specs, the two consoles couldn't be so different. The message that is being communicated the Sony and Microsoft are polar opposites. We all saw the reactions to both reveals. I think its safe to say which console the "niche hardcore crowd" will support. This is the same niche hardcore crowd that propelled the Xbox brand to what it is today.

Thats spin

the xbox will have has many games as the PS4, probably more in the first 12 months.

the fact that the ps4 has less media functions doesnt mean it has more games.

I never said it would have more games. My previous comment is very clear and easy to undertsand. I don't really need to repeat myself.

so the niche hardcore will support the console with the fewest games... what a weird world in which we live.

So PS4 will have the fewest games now?

Where are you getting this info from?

lol

thanks

"from everything we know right now"

"everything points to this"

Microsofts vision for the Xbox One is very clear. If you want to support that then you are free to do so. Based on your avatar and sig, you've already pre-ordered the console. Why you would do that without even seeing the games or exclusives is beyond me. Were those TV services really that impressive? Sure they looked cool but in reality how useful are they really? Do you really want to take Skype calls while watching your favorite TV show or movie? Do you really want to look something up on Bing when you can easily look it up on your smartphone?

What you talking about?  No.. its because I really want to play the games and franchises that I like...  Are you suggesting the big franchises I like wont happen?  and that all the new exclusives and IP's will be shit?

Those things dont mean the games arent there?  why cant you people see beyond that?

So I guess you want the PS$ to ONLY do games. No broswer thanks, no multimedia, certainly no Movie or TV apps thanks and get rid of that PS Eye and wandy thing. Surely you cant be considering a PS4 purchase.

oh... and I also pre-ordered because I'm loaded.

.....but you haven't seen these exclusive games and franchises yet.

What is a PS$? I dont' get it. If you're referring to PS4 then here's my answer. Yes, I do only want it for games. I myself don't even use Netflix or Hulu, let alone all any other premium servies that might appear like HBO Go. I am buying PS4 primarity for games, It is obviously expected for the PS4 to have an internet browser and popular apps such as Netflix. I know these things will be there but I am not basing my purchase on these features specifically. As to PS Eye and the "wandy thing" I own one. Its collecting dust. I'd love for them to get rid of it, not my thing. I am considering buying a PS4 sice Sony has not only said it is a platform for gamers, they have shown us that is.

$ is shift 4, I held onto the shift for too long... stop looking for stuff that isnt there.

how have they shown you that?

by showing 4 games.

MS have 15 exclusive games coming.

"MORE games confirmed"

Basic math dictates that 4 games are still more than no games, right?

How can you judge him for favoring the PS4 after seeing 4 games, when you're favoring the Xbox One without having seeing even one? You've even gone and preordered it!

Well, Sony's PS4 event was primarily focused on games. If that's not enough then what about their stance on indies?

Talk is cheap. Obviously PS4 will have more games than what were shown at the event. Sony had multiple on-stage demos such as Knack, Watch Dogs and Killzone at their conference. Microsoft had zero on-stage demos for games.
