How do full installs negatively impact you?  It allows you to insert the game, play the game while it is copying it to the hard drive, and then put the disc away so it won't be damaged anymore.

You could do pretty much the same on the 360 already, the difference was that you weren't forced to do so.

And I still remember many Xbox enthusiasts criticized that a few PS3 games require installing part of their data to the hard drive, while Microsoft completetly forbade mandatory installs. Now the Nextbox makes installing to harddisk mandatory for all games, but this is not an issue at all?

I think any issue with the mandatory install had to do with the wait to install, then the wait to play.  The Xbox 360 allows the gamer to install the game for better performance and less possibility of damage to the disc, but it wasn't an automatic process.

The difference with the Xbox One is that on the first play, as the game is loading, it's installing to the HDD.  Then, after the initial loading is done, while you're playing the game, it continues to install the rest of the game to the HDD.  A seemless operation compared to the PS3 or Xbox 360.

And NO, you could not buy a retail game with the Xbox 360, go to a friends house without the disc (you forgot it or weren't planning on playing at their house), and authenticate to his console and play that retail game.  You can't even do that with a PS3.
