Forums - Gaming - Point Comparison: PS4 vs Xbox One

for the record the xbox one doesnt have a tv tuner at all, it simply takes input from your existing cable/sky box through hdmi in and overlays its own crap on top of it and spits it out to your tv through a hdmi out port.
if you dont have a cable / sky box, or an active subscription, you dont get to watch any tv.

There is no freeview/freeviewhd/freesat turner built in either, so you'll need one with hdmi out that may or may not work with the xbox one because it controls the external device through hdmi connection commands.

Nice comparison. We will have to wait for the dust to settle to see what MS's position on used games and online once-a-day really is.I suspect the confusion so far is due to their position on these issues not yet being fully finalised but we should see solid facts at E3.

Where does it say that only 4 gig of XOne are available for games?

I read it off GAF somewhere. Seems to be somewhere between 4-5GB. I will adjust chart to show this..

  • They want to implement live streaming of games. Think its a "really cool" idea.
  • Pre-owned games can be sold.
  • Hints that they wanted always-online to be 24/7 in order for the Cloud computing to enhance games through e.g. extra enemy A.I and increase the scope/scale of vision in games; more filled in screen. Cloud seems to be huge for them.

Basically, he is asked if MS have made it mandatory to always be connected when playing offline, or whether they'll leave it up to the publishers. He confirms the latter, then goes on to speak about the benefits of an always-online system for gameplay. When Kotaku asked him a similar question earlier, he said he "hopes" publishers implement this. Couple this with MS's "infrastructure investments", according to Phil Harrison, on dedicated servers, plus how the machine needs to connect to install a game, you can probably guess what their original plan was.

  • Acknowledges Sony has faster RAM but can't do comparison as he doesn't know the full capability of their hardware/OS, but believes XB1 games will look just as good if not better
  • Acknowledges around 3GB of RAM reserved for OS
  • Xbox Live fundamentals will remain the same
  • Nothing concrete in terms of creating a backlog for 360 games to be made compatible on XB1, but if it does happen, the popular 360 games will be there first
  • Plan to make family households with multiple consoles/accounts have access to more content in response to whether they will be discounts for family Gold members
  • Nothing to confirm yet on what cable companies will be compatible with XB1's TV/DVR functionality. Probably still negotiating.
  • Hints that no headset included with console. Megaton. Suggests Kinect will be default device acting as microphone

These sounded pretty finalized, just everyone didn't get the proper spin instruction before reveal. I hope by E3 they have changed their mantra on quite a few things. Many laughed at the rumors coming for Xbox One, and I personally thought them far too terrible to be true. Every single one of them turned out true to some extent :(

No, it's rumored exactly to be 3 gb for os, which is not 4-5 to games.

Edited: now put as 5GB of dedicated ram for XBO Games.

hmmm, I guess but what do you call this?

I kinda feel like the Xbox One was way over manufactured. With it's concepts and design. I mean the most hyped feature is that you can plug all your real devices into it so you don't have to hit the input button? And the actual design of the box......They added something in at the last minute and did a quick mock up of a casing for the console. There is no way they can think that was an actually good design. 360 Slim.......a sexy little bit of tech to be sure, this is atrocious.
