78% of statistics are made up. 42% percent of people know that.
That 90% is sooo fake

| FishyJoe said: Why is the ELSPA commenting on the American market? And based on the stats, the DS sold more software in the US alone (26.7 million) than the PSP did worldwide (18.3 million). If one believes the story, the DS would have over 240 million units of software pirated for the third quarter in the US alone. |

absurd article of the day
i doubt 10% of ds owners in US know what the r4 is
and the ps3 is losing money, yet ds is 'least-profitable console on the market'???
ds prints money; this guy is certifiable
also, ds sold 720k software last week alone in the US alone
maybe by 'takings' he means the revenue from each individual item, as ds games cost less than other consoles' games? in other words, intentionally misleading people?
Bets:Missed by 420k I bet leo-j vg$500 that wii will sell 31 million by 7/31/08. Sorry, I don't think he has enough vg$ to make it with all of u that wish you could. Hit, with room to spare I bet kingofwale a 1-week ban that wii Americas ltd sales>360 Americas ltd sales as of the numbers for week ending 7/05/08 (using vgchartz homepage #s)
Predictions:
Wii will sell 18-20mil by 12/31/07 CHECKWii will sell 45mil+ WW by 12/31/08Wii will surpass PS2 sales WW by 11/17/11 (5yr anniversary)Wii Fit will hit 12mil sales in 2009MKWii+SSBB+Wii Fit+SMG > 50 mil sales by 2010 > gta4+mgs+gt5+ff13+haze+lbplol 90% that's hilarious, more like 90% of DS owners haven't even heard of this R4 chip, let alone use it. The vast majority of people who own consoles of any kind probably know anything about the hardware that they don't see in primetime commercials.

| stranne said: I think KillerMan must be right here, it was just a poor worded statement that was misunderstood. 90% of DS pirates in US using R4 - PLAUSIBLE |
That's probably what was meant.
90% of users using the R4? Impossible.

I agree with Killerman. The statement is just very badly worded.
Instead of: "In America it's thought 90 per cent of Nintendo DS users are playing pirated games because of R4s"
It should read: "In America it's thought 90 per cent of Nintendo DS users playing pirated games are using R4s"

up to you man, but your missing out on some great stuff. |
Some prefer not to steal their video games and instead reward people who work had to make them. Without people actually buying the games then the market would collapse and games would become extremely niche. If you can't support the studio that made all the games you love to play then you really are the worst kind of a thief.

Plus maybe it's just me... but i've played pirated games... they just don't feel as fun or fufilling for whatever reason. They feel hollow. My one friend burned me an NES Emulator and a number of games in highschool. (A lot of which i already had but whatever)... playign them just felt well like i said. Hollow. Nowhere near as good as playing it though the games were identical. (Even the ones i already owned.)
The only games i'd be tempted to pirate are hand held games... and then only if I already owned the handheld system and the games. (I hate actual handheld gaming). This way I could play the games I own.... on my computer instead of some tiny screen.
This of course is impossible with the DS.... and the PSP just plugs in to TVs anyway... and i have Super Gameboy for my gameboy games.

If 90% used R4's Nintendo would have released the DS2 by now already with better anti piracy inside!
I have an R4 - and I never use it (was a present from my girl, she uses it for music/video playing).
90% is a ridiculous, made-up statistic. There are more than 20m DS units in the US - I'll be surprised if there was more than 3-4m R4 chips worldwide. To suggest there are 18m "active" R4 users in the US is ridiculous.
