Forums - Nintendo - IGN calls the Wii U gamepad a crappy controller in the Microsoft Pre-show

Yeah, it's more the fact the system isn't selling very well, and it's just one person's opinion.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Yeah. Who wants a crappy controller when you can just use the same one for sixteen goddamn years?

Perhaps most amazing is that the Wii U gamepad actually conforms more closely to the Generally Accepted Gamepad Standard Format than any controller Nintendo has ever packed in with a console, and they're still slagging it for daring to deviate at all. Real gamers demand conformity!

Nintendo has consistently set standards for future controllers and control methods in general. I have a feeling that by the end of this generation, words such as these will be hastily eaten.

These comments are starting to get annoying, but it's opinion I guess.

The controller is identical to the others... just adds a screen.

I don't see why they think that, it's a great controller. Quite comfortable to use

Yeah, if anything, it's better.

So you imply that by the end of the generation both new xbox and PS4 will get dedicated tablet controllers? I'm not even saying that they will be the main controllers, just additional dedicated controllers a'la Wii U gamepad - tablet like with a big 5 inches or more screens.

I am willing to bet that they won't as a gamepad like that is sub-par to a traditional controller like Dualshock 4 or X360 controller. We're at any stake here, your call, so you want to bet?

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

It's just one mans opinion. I personally don't particularly like the wii u controller either. I just prefer the traditional controllers design.
