I think people are riding a bashing bandwagon just for the sake of it, or just because they don't like or can't play FPS.

I don't like JRPG's because the style, stories and characters do not catch my attention. But I never bash them consistently like FPS is bashed.

People put all the First Person games with guns in one bag. In reality there's multiple sub-genres that feel and play different.
For example, people just call Halo a shooter. It f**** my brain. Halo is an Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi. Calling it simply a shooter is diminishing this great series with no parallel in its field.

I don't know how people like WOW and games of its kind. Running errands is not something I like to do in real life let alone in games. But I don't bash it, just because I can't play it or don't like it.

After all games are enjoyment, like music whatever clicks your feeling that's what's good.

Completely agree with this post! People do seem to ride the hate train. It isn't so bad here though. If you go to ign, the comments for shooters is usually negative. People on ign also really like bashing apple too lol. Those groups that bash these products are in the tiny minority though compared to the whole population.

Battlefield 1943 is the best FPS, and the only one I never get tired of.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

I like them....they just keep being made because Americans cant get enough of them though. Very few standout games in the FPS lot.

OK. JRPGs just keep being made because Japanese cant get enough of them though. Very few standout games in the JRPG lot.

Do you see, they're mostly the same if not, they are very rare.

Love them, can't get enough of them.

And you did the same to JRPGs.

I didn't bash JRPGs. I don't know crap about them, even if there are subgenres...

I think they're okay, there just seems to be so many of them. I do think the phase will pass though, I think it's a bit like a gold rush with companies having seen the success of games like Halo and COD and desperately tried to grab some of the success. I'm surprised by how long it's gone on for though, I genuinly thought that after HAZE companies would realise that the shooter market is pretty saturated and that creating a mediocre shooter would be doomed to fail. But games like Homefront and soon to be FUSE just kept coming despite bad sales and companies just kept going in some sort of hypnotic trance of self destruction.
There were successes too though, with games like Borderlands that genuinely brought something new to the table and proper top tier games that deserve the sales.
I guess I could summerize by saying that there is nothing wrong with FPS/shooter games but some of the companies that make them really need a reality check.

Personally it is not one of my liked genre's. Some how I get the feeling if I played one I played them all (except for a few) and I will explain why. Most fps are mostly the same gameplay wise, where they try to be different or unique is by the game story, since I am a person where it is gameplay first story last most feel indistinguishable to me.

First person shooters are today what platformers / sidescrolling action games were back in the 8-16 bit eras. I didn't hear anybody complain about the mind numbing amount of cheap platformers and sidescrollers back in the day. For every quality platformer like a Mario or Sonic game, there were a dozen lazy, uninspired, usually based on a license platformers that would make you pull your hair out after spending 5 minutes with them.

Just look at all the AVGN videos if you want proof.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

JRPG's test gamers on a level FPS titles cannot. Call it cerebral....but look at where thge FF franchise has gone and you can see its probably going to turn into kingdom hearts with versus.
