The really funny thing is that the Nintendo Channel shows that the average total playtime for Wii Sports per console is something like 45 hours. Not too shabby for a pack-in.

Don't come here and try and use logic!!

too bad he didnt and even admits it in the op... more stores have a lot more games than systems... probably a couple hundred games per store. Also, nobody said games dont sell on the wii so he cant use logic when he ddoesnt even have the argument correct

There are more PS3 and Xbox 360 games in Norwegian stores than Wii games (both new and old ones). Does this mean that no one bought games on these systems? No. People claim that they never really bought that many games on the wii, and they also clam that casuals didn't buy more than a couple. It really surprises me if you have never seen anyone claim this.

what does ps3 or 360 games have to do with anything? you are going by shipped numbers. thatssilly. go to a store and count how many facings they have. probably a couple hundred. then realize each game probably has multiple copies. then realize there is a whole stock room of games that arent on the floor anymore. probably just as many on the floor.

as for the argument it has always been that nintendo games sell on nintendo systems.

"What does ps3 and 360 games have to do with anything?" The main point of the op is that I've heard many say that people never really bought games for Wii, people meening both gamers and casuals. And you say that there are many games on store shelves (which I agree with), but there are more PS3 and 360 games on the shelves, at least in my country. But I never see anyone saying that no one bough games for those platforms. And that is why I'm bringing up those platforms.

The point that he tried to make is that software shipments divided by hardware shipments gives you a number that is a good bit higher than reality.
You got an attach ratio of 8.71, but you need to remind yourself that only ~500k Wiis are on store shelves, but several tens of millions Wii games.

On topic. My father won a Wii at a lottery. He has Wii Sports (obvious) and Wii Fit. Pretty sure that's it.

Why are you trying to pass off the odd bit of fanboy drivel as widely accepted "fact"?

Even then, you didn't do a very good job of disproving them. "Casuals" are more than capable of buying at least 8 games, regardless of the system they are buying it for. Both my parents and grandparents had about 10 games for their Wiis.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. This is what I'm talking about, that casuals, and wii owners in general, are buying more games than people say they are.

Then I guess I'm agreeing with you, I just didn't see the point of this thread. Since when has it been "fact" that casuals don't buy games on the Wii?

Have you ever been on N4G? IGN? Gameinformer? Kotaku?

I've seen this many places. "Casual gamers just buy the Wii for Wii sports and then they sell it" and such.

Maybe elsewhere, but on a site like VGC one should know the truth.

Not every Wii user is a casual gamer, though that casual gamers don't buy as many games as core gamers shouldn't be too surprising.
With that said, the Wii is indeed in 3rd place regarding software attach ratio, but it's not as far behind as these people from other places may think.

go complain to those people then. its pointless here if no one is saying. however, the argument i have always seen is concerning first and third party. wii sports, wii music, wii fit, wii music, wario ware, super smash bros, mario kart and others arent know to be hardcore titles but they sell. obviously casuals buy titles

well i have bought over 100 Wii games. So hardcore Nintendo fans lol/

How many do you think bought than many games? Besides, these kinds of gamers excists on other platforms, like the ps3 too. And if I remember right, they have about 9 games in average.

LOL no idea how many, But I got about 80 on PS3 and about 60 on 360. So I gone big this gen lol
