Forums - Nintendo - Wii U downloads are really that slow?

People shouldn't have to buy extras such as external hardrives to take advantage of the product they spent hundreds on. But if it's no problem for the OP then more power to him

If the console had a larger built-in HDD it would have cost more. You aren't spending more money by buying your own external. But if you aren't planning on purchasing anything digitally, you are saving money.

I think the $300 model is the better deal, actually. You can get way more than 24 gigs for that extra $50.

Most people don't think of external HD's when buying consoles though so to most the 32gig will look better when compared side by side.

It also comes with a game, so there's that. And for some reason people like to have black consoles, even though they are fingerprint magnets.

I don't think I've ever had the option for a color on a system. I've never had to think about it... hopefully I will have a tough choice when I pick up my next console.

For the most part, I guess neither have I -- except when it comes to handhelds. When I do get a Wii U I'll probably just get a white one. It'll seem appropriate following the Wii.

Yeah, the white one does sound like the better deal after you pointed out a bigger external HD is cheaper than the 24gigs you get for the extra 50bucks.

The difference in the Delux and Basic is the Delux has 32gb of memory, a charging station for the Wii U pad, Nintendo Land and 10% cash back on all digital purchases through sometime in 2015 I believe. If you are really going all digital that will be the way to go.

DL speeds for me have been good. I am getting Speeds close to what I get from Steam

As far as the HDD goes. I really do not see how people can insist its a bad thing. You really have to just blindly hate Nintendo for this. If you go the MS route you pay them for overpriced drives but you dont have any other choice. If you go with Sony part of the price of the HDD is added into the cost of the console and while you do get it at a discount, the price drops constantly and you either drop the price of the product or upgrade it. Nintendo lets you decide if, when and what size drive you want and the cost of the console is cheaper over all allowing them to put in a better CPU/Graphics card.

Well, it's not as if you would touch anything but the "eject disk" button, if you went fully digital you wouldn't even have to touch that :P

Yeah just like PS3 did it well when it was "new" (20, 40, 60, 80 and forced installs). And the PSV is even better with its memory.

This is like saying "I will never buy an iPhone because I don't want Apple to watch me -- I will get an Android instead!!" lol

Lol, answer that one Max.....
