Why not? Both are definitely the biggest exclusive brands for their respective consoles. Therefore they have to be compared.


Thats the problem, they have no genre comparison. The only reason people care to compare them is account of what sells systems. If you want to do that then do the same with Mario Kart and all the others.

This looks like a much better comparison. Every GT has out sold every Halo game except Halo 3 as of right now. Of course Reach and 4 are still selling so this is subject to change but either way looks to me that GT has Halo beat right now.

 

Yeah, much better comparison keeping in mind that ps2 sold way better than first xbox...

But almost every 4th xbox1 gamer bought at least one halo :)

And still the sales are only higher in total. Taking into account the units of consoles sold the story looks a bit better for Halo, don't you think?


Not really when taking into account that under your logic Halo 3 should have sold 19m using the 4:1 ratio so it underperformed by a large margin where as GT5 should have sold about 7m using the same attach rate as the PS2 versions.

It all depends on how you interpretate given data. You could also say that GT on PS2 sold extra-ordinary bad in comparison to Halo on Xbox while GT5 sells good and the 360-Halos don't.

Everyone can pick what he wants the data to be :)

They are completely different games, and in no way do they compete against each other. This only matters if you're a fanboy of one system or another.

All I see is two massively successful franchises, which is great for Sony, MS, and the industry as a whole.

People wanting to argue which is bigger is nonsense. Different consoles, different genre, different audience, one is a shooter (which means it has tons of competition) and the other is the premier racing franchise on it's system. Seriously, Halo has to compete with CoD, Battlefield, Gears, and every other shooter out there (A LOT). What does GT have to compete against? Nothing. It has no rival on it's system. Comparing them is pointless.

On a different note, just out of curiosity, does this site track digital sales as well? Seems like something that'll be pretty important moving forward next gen

Yes, digital will become even more important in the next years and I hope the site manages to find a way to track these sales somehow, otherwise it will be close to irrelevant regarding game-sales. By now, as far as I know, it doesn't track digital on its own.

Amen. Theres too much Sony vs MS dick swinging in the world. When two games such as these can exist and reach as many people as they have they speak for their brand and they speak for their respective genres.

GT5 wasnt bundled with the fat ps3

Sony fans have to decide: Is GT5:P now a separate game or not? I was in a discussion with a person that wanted to put the sales of GT5P and GT5 together and GT5P was bundled.
