Forums - Gaming - Top 20 best selling franchises this generation revealed by Ubisoft

No Wii Sports Resort included? Probably because Ubisoft wanted to claim they had a franchise in the top 5 so they excluded it? They need to provide the criteria for game listing. Also it's a shame the DS and PSP aren't included, Pokemon would easily be in the top 5.

Wii Sports Resort didn't sell that well.

Including Wii Sports would be cheating.

EDIT: VgChartz has it at 30m+. I guess it did sell well. Was it heavily bundled?

Is Mario NSMB/SMG?

Anyway. By the end of the Year GTA will probably be in the top 10.

FIFA is so huge!

Here's the easy way to figure this out. Is the "Mario" name in the title? Then yes.

Do you mean like Mario Kart? The game thats listed seperately?

IS MARIO IN THE TITLE OF MARIO KART??/

And yet they seperated Mario kart....

They counted 'Mario' and 'Mario Kart' seperately, for some reason.

I take it the Mario entry includes NSMB, 3D Mario and Mario Party. But I agree, either split the franchise up into all of it's different series, or really count it as one. I don't know if Mario & Sonic at the Olympics is included with 'Mario' or with 'Sonic' though. I'm guessing the latter since that would explain how Sonic even makes the top 20.

No, they didn't. As far as we know, they include every single game with Mario in its title. If you look at VgChartz data, it doesn't matter whether they included Mario Kart or not, COD would still outsell it.

Carl already answered that one .

But you're right about the sales, I see this list only includes home-consoles, in which case CoD indeed wins. Thought it was the whole of the 7th gen, my bad .

Thread title is misleading. Should be "Top 20 best selling franchises on stationary systems 2005-2012".

Funny how WoW is in top 20. We can kind of diverge how much it sold from 2005-2012 if we compare it to other franchises around it.

Ubisoft makes console games.

In fact quick calculations of Vgchartz numbers have WWE at 31.92m from 34 SKUs. That puts WoW above that alone. GTA is at 29.83m+ whatever other games in the series released before 2005 sold in 2005-2012.

Of course this is all relative since it is Vgchartz.

I like how VGking stormed in here and tripped.

Anyhow....Wii Fit and Guitar Hero were huge back then damn.
Consoles only eh? Shame.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

no Sony? hmmmm...
