While I know no-one here likely planned on buying this.. I did expect someone to share my ridicule towards Nvidia.

Ridicule this device? I can get behind that.

This device is halfway between a Ouya and one of those expensive peripherals that PC gamers sometimes buy to feel superior, yet rarely use. It will be poorly supported, do a poor job of solving the problems it was intended to solve, and has already priced itself out of the only substantial market that might have considered buying one.

I think it is an interesting device and a small group of people will buy it. For me I'll pass.

It's funny how everyone on this site thinks that every product is out there in order to dominate the market.

Much like the Microsoft Surface this thing is just a halo device for their Tegra SoC and will be probably updated yearly with new chipsets. The point for this thing is to raise awareness on the Tegra capabilities and to get more OEM's and developers on board and to optimize for their chipset.

I think that it offers a unique enough feature set to warrant the $349 price tag. I'd buy a PS Vita in a flash if it had fully unlocked android and was able to stream PC games smoothly.

do you know what they want to sell? maybe 50k units will be already enough to make a profit? if this will be the case, they only have to reach that goal and there is no doom then. same with steambox, people compare it with consoles and how it will sell much less but why should valve care about that? if selling 100k steamboxes will be enough to make a nice profit, they will be happy to sell 100k even if ps4 or another next gen console will sell 100m.

shield is not a "normal" handheld and doesn't have to sell the amount of a 3ds or vita to get game support and so on...

You're likely right, but I don't see why ANYONE would consider this. It provides nothing that can't be done on a ordinary Android smartphone sync'd to a standard controller... a solution that is far cheaper in costs and any gamer who wants this concept will likely know about that solution.

well, you can stream your pc games to it which i really like and you have display and controller as one device which is in my opinion much better as using an android device and sync it with a standard controller. then you have a display and a controller and as much as i can remember when i played with handhelds, i was very happy that everything was attached to each other, controls and display.

I don't mean to be rude at all, and I like Nvidia, but this thing is dead on arrival. I have no idea who thought this was a good idea and would succeed. This is such a terrible product.

What a hell is SHIELD?

There are at least two things you can buy to attach PS3 or other bluetooth controllers to your phone.
