Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo pink ball!!

Around the Network

Gooooooooooooooooooooooo kirby!

Is this kirby like the old ones? N64 I think.

Kirby sucks!!!!

Great, things are moving again. Obviously there's Kirby, DQM2 also moving well but lots of other games are picking up (DBZ, SB4 etc.). Vita island under threat from Harvest Moon and Miku, hopefully SAO does well (given that Infinity Moment on PSP did well and was, if I've heard right, not very good and was on a dying platform, I'm optimistic because this looks like the better game)

OK then, it’s comparison time:

[NDS] [24-04-05] Kirby: Canvas Curse – 75,997 / 322,296

[NDS] [02-11-06] Kirby Squeak Squad – 163,482 / 1,053,614

[NDS] [06-11-08] Kirby Super Star Ultra – 262,280 / 1,185,964

[NDS] [04-08-11] Kirby: Mass Attack – 73,261 / 404,994

Just a note, all info courtesy of Vgchartz, dates are UK-style i.e. DD-MM-YY (obviously)

So, anyone want a guess at how Kirby will do? Given the type of game and the point in 3DS’s life cycle in which it will launch, I’d argue that the Squeak Squad and Super Star Ultra sales are more representative of how I expect the new Kirby to perform (hence the bold text)

I have more comparisons, directly from my favourite GAF user!

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=95876320&postcount=1235

[NDS] Kirby Super Star Ultra - 166pt
[Wii] Kirby's Epic Yarn - 56pt
[NDS] Kirby Mass Attack - 36pt
[Wii] Kirby's Return to Dreamland - 80pt
[3DS] Kirby Triple Deluxe - 139pt

[PS3] Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs - 149pt
[PS3] Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs Full Boost - 125pt (special edition) + 72pt = 197pt

[3DS] Dragon Quest Monsters - 154pt*
[3DS] Dragon Quest VII - 192pt
[3DS] Dragon Quest Monsters 2 - 79pt*

*= bundle SKU as well, not counted by Comgnet

[PS3] Sengoku Basara 3 - 145pt
[Wii] Sengoku Basara 3 - 34pt
[PS3] Sengoku Basara 4 - 54pt + 23pt (special edition) = 77pt

[PS3] Yakuza 4 - 160pt
[PS3] Yakuza: Dead Souls - 474pt***
[PS3] Yakuza 5 - 98pt
[PS3] Yakuza: Ishin - 46pt
[PS4] Yakuza: Ishin - 26pt

**The game was scheduled for releasing on March 17th, 2011, but then the Earthquake disaster happened, and the delay till June 9th. So, lots and lots of preorders accumulated well before the actual release date. Probably, I won't put Y:DS in next comparisons due to its peculiarity

[PS3] Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 - 32pt
[PS3] Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi - < 38pt
[PS3] Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z - 29pt

[PS3] Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten - 86pt
[PSV] Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention - less than 41pt
[PS3] Disgaea Dimension 2 - 40pt
[PSV] Disgaea 4: Return - 19pt

Kirby doing extremely well comparatively.  As is Mobile Suit Gundam.

Dragon Quest; Sengoku Basara & Yakuza all underwhelming.

I'm not quite sure where he got his Disgaea 3 number from.  The game finished with 34 points on COMG (see the link in my sig); so D4R isn't doing that badly at all.

Dragon Ball Z also doing better than I had it pegged for, especially with an extra SKU for competition.

The little git... I was going to do these!

Oh well, a mixed picture - Disgaea and DBZ are doing well, as is Gundam (in fact this one is looking particularly promising). On the other hand Yakuza is down a little but then I suppose it is technically a spin-off so a Kenzan! comparision would have been most interesting. Basara also struggling.

Now I looks at it he hasn't actually added the real sales, I may do this nearer the time if people are interested (and if he doesn't do it first...)

Harvest Moon looks like it might invade that Vita island soon.

Kirby and DQM2 are moving well beyond anything any of us expected.

No Dragon Quest is big in Japan, I was expecting it to move. Didn't the first DQM for 3DS get about 400-500 point when it released? DQVII got over 1,000 right? I'm actually surprised the game isn't triple digit yet.

Kirby is booming though, but to be fair it looks like one of the first proper Kirby games for a handheld in a long while (not including remakes). I think the Japanese had enough of Canvas Curse and the such.

i didnt see the anime and i'm afraid of getting hyped for the game if in the end it doesnt get localized but it looks really good.

did the psp game get localized? Damn japan gets everything lol! It does kinda suck. Anime is good (not my top 10 but still very good). Felted rushed though, definitely could of been a 52 ep anime!

I think in the past 3 years SAO is in the top 5 most popular anime (thats new) as well as Attack on Titan (which is #1 easily)

No it did not, but it looked very bad. Slightly worse than the Attack on Titan game. The new one on Vita looks much better.

The PSP game was a joke, the Vita game definitely looks miles ahead of the PSP game. Too bad we will never get it =( need to learn Japanese already
