This got 8 downvotes on another website. Does anyone think Monster Hunter can sell 1 Million plus first week and 100,000 playstations?

100k HW is guaranteed, but I'm not sure about 1m FW. It'll be quite close (my prediction will be right around there), but MH games typically have better legs than FF, DQ, etc.

Obviously we can't say you are correct but your comment makes 100% sense. There are a lot of people salty and annoyed that ps4 has the most exciting looking monster Hunter ever exclusive in Japan and by the sounds of it they are on this other site you speak of. Just ignore the haters.

Personally I'm predicting over 100k hardware sold launch week and 1m software including digital. 

But what I'm really interested in is what hardware numbers will it do between now and then. We have 6 weeks to look at from now until launch.

1. Next week on mediacreate. Biggest holiday week. 

2. Christmas. 

3. New years sales boost. 

4. 2 weeks before launch 

5. 1 week before launch 

6. Launch week 

I'd expect 1, 2 and 3 to be good. Obviously 6 will be big. But how much will the pre hype boost weeks 4 and 5 from now is what I want to know. 

I think ps4 has a few other smaller releases in January so it's looking good all round. 

Now my next interest is when do Sony cut the price in Japan. It's long overdue a price cut there for both the slim and pro. Do they let it sell a lot between now and February and then cut the price after to boost the baseline for the rest of the year. Or will they hold out until summer or even next holiday? I can't see them waiting another whole year. They are really maximising profits from the Japanese market.

I think of it like this, there are very instances of a main MH game launching on consoles. The last time this happened, the series was more popular and started at <600k FW. That platform was the Wii and a lot has changed in the market. That said, I've never been one to say or predict that MHW will do something crazy and sell near the mainline handheld entries.
