Good for you GTA. Pokemon trucking along as well quite nicely. It's not going to break records in Japan but it's going to do well.

Final Fantasy XIII was pants.  But the base game itself was servicable, so they took that and made a fantastic sequel with XIII-2.  I'm okay with that.  I'd have preferred XIII to be a better game, but taking what was there and working on that and making a game in ~2 years rather than spending ~4 years making something completely new is fine with me.  In fact, we're getting both now with FFXV.

That, and what Ktay said.  It was an expensive game and I'm sure they wanted to reuse assets to squeeze a bit more money out of it.

The decline in sales don't agree with you. The Lighting Returns pre-orders are looking at you.

The West has the dominant share of the FF fanbase. It's been a while since Japan accounted for more than a 1/3 of a main FF's sales.

Yet in the west the decline was bigger than in Japan:

FFXIII vs FFXIII-2

Japan - 1.87m vs 0.89m = -0.98m (-52.40%)

West - 5.10m vs 2.19 = -2.91m (-57.06%)

Pretty funny, as the whole time COMG has made it look like it was struggling mightily  compared to B/W and B2/W2.

For the record, B/W had 1.08 million pre-orders in Japan and B2/W2 had 1.16 million pre-orders.

Was X hated because X-2 dropped ~3 million in sales?

While I will say that XIII is much less popular than other entries in the series, FF12 was hated just as much until 13 came out.

In the End Vita's Sen no kiseki sold more than PS3's.. seems like the fanbase still like portable experience.. but PS3's nombers aren't bad either...
