I think it's limited. The official website has a list of which theater will show the movie.

I don't think so. People said that FF12 sucks as well, but 13 still managed to do extremely well. It's just that FF15 tried too hard to appeal to the western fans, to the point that Japanese fans don't want it. |
I think that as Square pushes for more Western/worldwide appeal in their games (as they have to with state of JP console market), this is definitely a factor. No one wants to feel like they're (the core, original fanbase) is getting passed over for reasons outside of their control.
Basically SE is selling out and pandering the western gamers?
Don't forget FFXIII did not have a digital release, retail was 100%. And we've seen 20-30% digital ratios on PS titles this gen.

Dude that's right for the west, we talk about Japan, in that market a game has usually < 15%.
And that's also why all times i talk about FF i say "what you predict at RETAIL first week?"
Personally, i expect 700,000 at retail and 800,000 with digital.

When hiska (I think it was him) last posted numbers i think most were +20%
But I could be misremembering
edit: the west has an higher % indeed, probably close to 30% at this point for many games. Not really related to comg or japan pre orders but I wonder at which point (if ever) it's going to stabilize
All I meant is that when comparing games that had 0 digital sales and games that are bound to have a "decent percentage of digital", it's a relevant point to remember, more so than simply comparing sequels where there is an increase (like 15% to 20% for example, from one title to another). I had already pointed this out for MGS5, due to no digital for MGS4 (at first).
Not saying it'll sell a bazillion digitally in Japan
