The PS3 version was TBA, but a few days ago they confirmed it will release the same day than the PS4 version.

Still, they opened pre-orders later, and all the promotion is for the PS4 version. I think the PS3 sales will be very residual this time.

more like the growing favour of the genre helped Splatoon tbqh.

you would be surprised how many JHS and HS students actually enjoy the likes of CoD, GTA and TloU on PS3. 

COD and Splatoon don't have the same audience this is just like comparing Gran Turismo to Mario Kart

Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

But seriously, I thought this a bit early. I think the entire industry is receeding a bit. It's kinda sad, but I'm not sure I should really be expecting these series to keep pushing the boundary.
