I don't entirely get this points system thing, anyway we can guess first week sales from them? Such as looking at another game that released and comparing the points it had just before release and how many units it sold. Or are the points not based on numerical sales and just based on how well it's doing to other games in the list?

Each point=1 preorder in a COMG store. Roughly you could say 1 point=1k in the first week, but it varies a lot from game to game. To get w good picture, you should look at the ratio from previous games in the same series, the same genre and on the same system. I suggest you pay attention to this thread and the weekly MC threads, after a while, just paying attention alone will give you a fair bit of insight.
