At this rate DQH won't have any problems being the best-selling PS4 game to date in Japan

That is certainly the expectation. Not sure anything will dethrone it till MGSV maybe?

Hmmm I haven't made up my mind yet... but I think 500k across both is very possible first week.

Too high. 350k FW is my expectation right now.

I don't think it's too high... DQ brand is very strong Japan, and several DQ spin-offs have become million-sellers there over the years. Plus, the brand is also more on the frontloaded side so I would expect a big opening week and relatively-weaker legs. We'll see soon I guess!

Look at DQ Swords. On a more popular system, it did much less than 500k FW. DQH has more going for it in terms of genre, but it's not like DQ = million seller.

Swords is the exception rather than the rule though, considering it was an on-rails motion-control-driven mess. I agree that not every DQ title is a million-seller, but there is genuine hype behind this title, its pre-orders on COMG have been promising so far and, like you said, belongs to a more popular genre. Plus, it has already sold around 50k on PS4 with digital vouchers! That's a fine start.
