Something I've been trying to figure out is why Nintendo fans aren't mad at Nintendo. Seems to me that they were trying to convince people that the Wii U was going to get all the multi-player games when they didn't have many agreements in place. They mislead people by having guys like Ken Levine appear in a video (and WTF, people blame Levine for that?) which they showed on stage. They allowed EA to walk away after they seemingly had something worked out. They pissed off Ubisoft. They pissed off Amazon big-time.

And yet all I hear is that Nintendo is a victim. Seriously? I'm not saying they should get all the blame but clearly they deserve some of it. A lot of these things are directly related to choices Nintendo made. In business, it's YOUR responsibility to make sure other businesses want to partner with you, not the other way around.

Edit: phooey, i let myself get sucked in again. I'll leave it that my opinion of Ken Levine is very low, and has been for some time.

Stop responding to the ones you know will be Nintendo negative no mutter what. (you should have some idea atleast)

Dont give in to the dark side you are our (Nintendos) only hope Obi Wan Kenobi

@pokolo

I agree with this.  Nintendo has always done no wrong.  They don't make mistakes because fans can't think of them ever doing anything wrong.

@vaio

Wouldn't it be Obi Wan Khanobi?  Get it?

I encourage you to read more of what Nintendo fans around here post. While we are largely united in our condemnation of third parties, we are by no means just cheerleaders of Nintendo (i, for one, am bothered that it took them 7 years to get around to putting Earthbound on the non-Japan virtual consoles. How mysterious that the legal issues disappear when they have a struggling console...) While you'll find criticism of all kinds of games, the Wii U hardware (i'm actually in the minority of Nintendo fans on this site who thinks the gamepad was a good idea) or other missteps (like their very poorly-coded operating system for the Wii U)

I think this argument is flawed in the premise. I am a Nintendo fan and I don't hate EA. In fact, I quite like their Maxis label games and am a very long time SimCity fan.

Are you still a SimCity fan, despite the last three games being rather shite? I know I'm not any more.

Again, a premise that is incorrect, I love the latest SimCity game. It's probably the most fun I have had on a PC game since Brood War.

Why are you having fun playing SimCity games

What the hell is wrong with you

Nintendo fans shouldn't have expected to get the Mass Effect Trilogy, though it's clear why they do. The reason behind the PS3 getting the Mass Effect Trilogy is when EA first brought the series to the system, the second game sold well. The third game released and on the PS3 it also sold well. So they have a huge fanbase on one console that hasn't played the first one, so it's obvious why they ported it.

Because they ported the original over to the PS3, Nintendo fans expect them to do the same on the Wii U? Mass Effect 3 only sold 50,000. If it sold half a million or a million then you might have seen a port, but be realistic.

I think very few people were expecting the trilogy for the Wii U, but EA slap in the face was to announce and release the trilogy for the SAME price before the ME3 Wii U was even released on the console WITHOUT DLC support. If they have waited, release ME3 cheaper, or delay the announcement of the trilogy people would be less upset.

Don't know about others, I dislike EA management because they have come off as jerks not only in their Nintendo support but how they approach development in recent years.

Granted, I still appreciate some of their annual sport releases (on non Nintendo systems) because I love American Football and Soccer. Still pissed off they killed off all other video game competition buying exclusive rights to the NFL but that is a rant for another time. However outside of that it seems whenever one of their rare experimental releases gain success they ruin it. I'm looking at Dragon Age which they tried to make in medieval Mass Effect and Dead Space which they tried to attach Gears of War and micro-transactions to the detriment of the blooming franchises. I understand this is a business but they lack subtly in trying push things and the gamer is the one that suffers.

EA can do better with how they approach things and their constant strong arm tactics are the main reason people consider them the worst game company a few weeks or months ago.

Edit: And while they have screwed Nintendo on a few occassions, at this point most Nintendo fans of a certain age should know Nintendo made it was easy because of some of their decisions, which seem to be a result of a flawed perspective of the Western markets which most 3rd party publishers and developers even in Japan are leaning toward now outside of the small ones that stick to handheld platforms or mobile ones.

I feel EA is being disingenuous.

If it does not feel it can make a profit or does not have the resources to develop for e unique WiiU given its current fiscal situation, then say so. Do not keep talking about an unprecedented partnership that resembles more of a flirtation than a future or even a fling.

Other third parties have shown much more respect to the WiiU in general. They are not bringing all the games, but they are brining some. And they are not saying one thing and doing another.

PS -- RE: MLB 2k13. Releasing that game was a last minute decision by 2K. The license term has expired. and most people thought there would be no baseball game this year,

The SimCity games are fun.  If any of you are SimCity fans or dislike EA so don't want to play SimCity but would like to play a great ripoff of the series.  I'd recommend Afterlife.  It's a LucasArts version of SimCity where you build Heaven and Hell.

@kupomogli  Damn why didn´t i think of that.

Yes the Wii U OS is a disaster even the Wii was leagues better, How they stopped supporting the Wii and just left it to die, no real push when the Wii U launcehed, No advertisement and support after the launch, delayed the launch games .............

There are lots of things to complain about Nintendo but not the thirdparty debacle and EA bullshit.

The only thing about 3rd parties you can blame Nintendo is their behaviour in the 80´s and start of the 90´s.

I think the whole debate has less to do with people wanting to support Electronic Arts. Most of us are actually quite loathe to do so. I think it is about justice and fairness. The situation really is like this. Both Nintendo and Electronic Arts are equally responsible for what has transpired. The response however has been entirely one side, and that just means that one side is getting bullied. Nobody likes to watch someone else getting bullied. They especially don't like to watch what amounts to a cheap gang bang. Fight fair, or don't fight at all.

I know some of you will never fess up to it, but you know what. Nintendo is guilty of the same crimes you want to go out of your way to persecute Electronic Arts for. Nintendo promises things they cannot deliver on, and actually have no intention of delivering on. They don't adequately support their own platform, and when they do support it what you get is token efforts, or gasp the cloning you all find so disgusting. Of coarse you are going to reward them for that behavior now aren't you.

If you genuinely think Electronic Arts deserves ire for their behavior. Then your sense of justice should have you treating Nintendo the exact same way, and perhaps doing something as logical as withholding your support from the company. Until it decides to straighten up and fly right. Hell you know what would be a welcome change of pace. If you stopped excusing them for their bad behavior. If Nintendo is a victim. I must be the tooth fairy.

Nintendo has no actual excuses for its conduct with its latest console. Nintendo has the financial resources, the raw manpower, and the experience to put together a truly solid console experience. Instead they gave you the Wii U, and you have to know that it is a mess of a console and platform. It was poorly designed, poorly implemented, and poorly supported by Nintendo itself. None of which is the fault of Electronic Arts. Nintendo on its own initiative put out a game console that would be poorly received by just about everyone.

In a just world companies who treat their partners with such disdain will get that back in kind. You have to explain this to me. What is so bad about third parties not supporting the platform. When Nintendo itself is basically refusing to support its own platform. If you want to hold Electronic Arts accountable. Then by all means, but don't pretend that it is really about how they conduct themselves. It is about the fact that they are hurting a console brand you enjoy. Not that you actually have a problem with the behavior, because if that were true you would have a problem with the likes of Nintendo too, and you would be spitting just as much mean spirited venom there way.

Stop opting out of a serious inspection of Nintendo by scapegoating Electronic Arts for all of your frustrations. In the grand scheme of things. They aren't even causing a tenth of the frustration you are feeling. Nintendo itself is your real tormentor. So many of you act like we wont here you out, but the truth is you don't want to understand the million good reasons why Electronic Arts is withholding support, because to do that would be to acknowledge how far in the wrong Nintendo is, and has been for a very long time.

Believe it or not people will listen to you. If you are being honest and reasonable, but you aren't right now. You are just throwing a tantrum. You don't want to hear the other side of it. You don't even want to consider the other side of it . Look we all get what your deal is. You are pissed, because Electronic Arts abandoning the platform is going to do some serious fucking harm to the brand, and that is going to hurt your gaming experience. That doesn't change the fact that Nintendo is running the show. If the ship is going down. Don't blame the caterer, blame the captain. Okay blame the caterer if the shrimp gave you the shits, but don't blame them, because you end up drowning.

Practice what you preach, Dodece.
