Forums - Gaming - The Real reason why Nintendo fans dislike EA

I think the whole debate has less to do with people wanting to support Electronic Arts. Most of us are actually quite loathe to do so. I think it is about justice and fairness. The situation really is like this. Both Nintendo and Electronic Arts are equally responsible for what has transpired. The response however has been entirely one side, and that just means that one side is getting bullied. Nobody likes to watch someone else getting bullied. They especially don't like to watch what amounts to a cheap gang bang. Fight fair, or don't fight at all.

I know some of you will never fess up to it, but you know what. Nintendo is guilty of the same crimes you want to go out of your way to persecute Electronic Arts for. Nintendo promises things they cannot deliver on, and actually have no intention of delivering on. They don't adequately support their own platform, and when they do support it what you get is token efforts, or gasp the cloning you all find so disgusting. Of coarse you are going to reward them for that behavior now aren't you.

If you genuinely think Electronic Arts deserves ire for their behavior. Then your sense of justice should have you treating Nintendo the exact same way, and perhaps doing something as logical as withholding your support from the company. Until it decides to straighten up and fly right. Hell you know what would be a welcome change of pace. If you stopped excusing them for their bad behavior. If Nintendo is a victim. I must be the tooth fairy.

Nintendo has no actual excuses for its conduct with its latest console. Nintendo has the financial resources, the raw manpower, and the experience to put together a truly solid console experience. Instead they gave you the Wii U, and you have to know that it is a mess of a console and platform. It was poorly designed, poorly implemented, and poorly supported by Nintendo itself. None of which is the fault of Electronic Arts. Nintendo on its own initiative put out a game console that would be poorly received by just about everyone.

In a just world companies who treat their partners with such disdain will get that back in kind. You have to explain this to me. What is so bad about third parties not supporting the platform. When Nintendo itself is basically refusing to support its own platform. If you want to hold Electronic Arts accountable. Then by all means, but don't pretend that it is really about how they conduct themselves. It is about the fact that they are hurting a console brand you enjoy. Not that you actually have a problem with the behavior, because if that were true you would have a problem with the likes of Nintendo too, and you would be spitting just as much mean spirited venom there way.

Stop opting out of a serious inspection of Nintendo by scapegoating Electronic Arts for all of your frustrations. In the grand scheme of things. They aren't even causing a tenth of the frustration you are feeling. Nintendo itself is your real tormentor. So many of you act like we wont here you out, but the truth is you don't want to understand the million good reasons why Electronic Arts is withholding support, because to do that would be to acknowledge how far in the wrong Nintendo is, and has been for a very long time.

Believe it or not people will listen to you. If you are being honest and reasonable, but you aren't right now. You are just throwing a tantrum. You don't want to hear the other side of it. You don't even want to consider the other side of it . Look we all get what your deal is. You are pissed, because Electronic Arts abandoning the platform is going to do some serious fucking harm to the brand, and that is going to hurt your gaming experience. That doesn't change the fact that Nintendo is running the show. If the ship is going down. Don't blame the caterer, blame the captain. Okay blame the caterer if the shrimp gave you the shits, but don't blame them, because you end up drowning.

I think you completely miss the point of people disliking EA. You seem to think people are blaming EA for the wiiU lack of games  and whatnot but that  is completely not the point, actually I don't think I have seen anyone blamed EA for that which makes your analysis look very suspect, if that is what you genuinely think.

If you think Nintendo gets away with their handling of the wiiU I don't know what to say. Have you seen the poor sales of the console? What do the sales of the wiiU tell you, that people are pleased and rushing to buy the console?

Did you see what happened with the sales of the 3ds in its first couple of months and then what happened after? Again what does that tell you?

Again I say you totally misunderstand what people are saying, or you are totally misrepresenting people's opinion on the matter.

Around the Network

1. EA promises "unprecedented support" for Wii U.
2. Support turns out to be unprecedentedly abysmal.
3. EA was obviously trolling.

Something I've been trying to figure out is why Nintendo fans aren't mad at Nintendo. Seems to me that they were trying to convince people that the Wii U was going to get all the multi-player games when they didn't have many agreements in place. They mislead people by having guys like Ken Levine appear in a video (and WTF, people blame Levine for that?) which they showed on stage. They allowed EA to walk away after they seemingly had something worked out. They pissed off Ubisoft. They pissed off Amazon big-time.

And yet all I hear is that Nintendo is a victim. Seriously? I'm not saying they should get all the blame but clearly they deserve some of it. A lot of these things are directly related to choices Nintendo made. In business, it's YOUR responsibility to make sure other businesses want to partner with you, not the other way around.

We Nintendo fans, (and I'm speaking of we, because we are all the same, and a very homogeneous group), never bash Nintendo, they are perfect at their doing so what you are saying is totally off the place. Nintendo has never done wrong, and it's the industry as a whole the one that want to see Nintendo on the ropes going as a SW publisher only.

Am I doing this right?

I dislike them for their PR Bullshit swinging or left to right like a bipolar person.

I dislike them for what they did to EA Sports games on Wii (i think in 09) turned it into childish graphics and even the cover wall childish, slap on the face to fans of those games.

However I still buy their games that are good, on all consoles where applicable. Why? because some developer who actually put in effort SLAVED away for EA to get this game done.
