Forums - Gaming - What are your thoughts on Activision-Blizzard?

i wish they would start investing more money into more AAA games. they make tons of money yet the games they make (other than the blizzard part) are just CoD and skylanders. i know there are more but those are the ones i can think off. honestly i want them to make an AAA game that would compete with uncharted an tomb raider, and i want that game to be pitfall! i loved pitfall the lost expedition, and i see that that franchise can learn a few things from uncharted but they can make the game stick to its roots and the game would be amazing.
anyways, i dont hate activision, i kind of like them. yes they bring out a CoD every year, but my grip is more with tryarch then activision. if tryarch were good developers they would have made BlackOps a good game.
i cant wait for destiny though. and honestly they seem like the best publisher for the game. they seem to give bungie all the time and creative freedom they want. i dont think any publisher would have done that

I don't mind them. I wish they'd be a little more adventurous with CoD, but I don't really play the game, so its not really my place to tell them what to change. I'm mainly interested in the Blizzard side of their business because of Starcraft.

Black Ops II is set in the future. The maps have a lot more color and are more adventurous. It still won't stop people from saying "generic brown shootah". CoD can never win with some people.

Well I think It's apparent Activison had strong influence over Blizzard with the acquisition.

Diablo 3 was not the same as Diablo 1 and Diablo 2, and Activision was able to nickle and dime Diablo 3 without the need of any DLC - The Auction House (They get money with each item sold). Though I believe Blizzard is to blame on the overall quality here.
Starcraft 2 - They splitt the game into three games. No DLC again, but basically giving a longer single player experience and a few multiplayer tweaks for $50 each time.

I don't mind Activision as a whole. They make good games, and I enjoy COD. I just wish they took more risks with the COD franchise and freshened it up a bit each year.

It's just that simple.

I think they are getting a bit greedy, and the quality of their games is decreasing; but if they release a game I think it looks awesome, I will buy it.

They are pretty much irrelevant to me the last game made by them is Gun only did that since it had easy achievements and I kinda liked it when I played it on the original X-Box. Unless they actually make a decent game that isn't a FPS they will stay irrelevant to me for the near future.

Love StarCraft, more than any other franchise.
Diablo 3 was pretty poor as it was "dumbed down" for the more casual players (And possibly consoles), I.E. No randomly generated levels, less loot variations, no customizable skills and stat points for characters etc'.

WarCraft as in the RTS was great, the MMO not my cup of tea.

CoD, same game every year just re-skinned, they could have all been an expansion pack at half the price and no one would think different...

So as a company they are fairly hit and miss in my books, except when it comes to StarCraft.

Im a massive fan of Blizzard. Diablo was the game which started me on my road in gaming, I still play D1/D2 to this day and now D3 is on its way 2 PS3/4 Blizzard take my money. They put alot of work into there games which always tell an epic story along with some of the most insane cut scenes ive ever seen.

Like many have said, they have a particularly nasty habit of taking something successful and running it six feet into the ground (four or five console Guitar Heroes in 2009? WTF!?). Never been into Blizzard's stuff but I think many of the CODs are good (especially MW1) and the Transformers games are great. I really have nothing against Activision.

Definitely much, much better than EA as a company.
