i think they are a great thing. truth is the site can be addictive at times and you can spend a lot of time on it without noticing. sometimes its good to take a time off and requested bans do that for you

I think anyone who starts a thread asking for a permban instead of quietly leaving is really just trolling for attention and should be permbanned.

Requested permabans would not be necessary if people were allowed to delete their accounts.

I can agree with this to an extent. If you are going to request a ban, at least do it quietly and hope no-one notices.

As I said in one of the permaban request threads, I don't get it. If I don't want to post, then I don't post. If I don't want to visit the website then I don't visit. I've been a part of many different communities online over the years and I've never felt the need to actually burn any bridges behind me. What if a year from now everything has settled down and I've realized that posting on a forum online was never actually the problem?

I think it is fine, but really you should just find a way to block this site that way you cannot even lurk. I find that lurking is more of a problem for users then actually being online and posting.

I don't understand these "VGC Vacay!" requested-bans, but I understand Perma-bans. These are here for obvious reasons.
