Zelda, Metroid, Deus Ex and Souls are the only franchises I can get really excited about.

Oh sorry that was me.  It's late. I was actually pointing out to you the wiki page on ff14..  Somethins up with it.  I was gonna say something directly but it lots it's steam in writing ya know.  Anyways check out that page.

Silent Hill - Once the king of horror games until SH4 came out which had a lame story, clunky controls, boring enviremonts and worst of all... it wasn't scary. Ever since this awful game things only got worse and i lost all interest in this series.

Smackdown VS. Raw - Awesome fighting game that used to improve and innovate it's modes, controls and graphics with SVR 2007 on top. 2008 was a bit of a letdown but still fun, but any game after was basically the same.

Harry Potter - HP trilogy were not great games but they were really fun! 4 however, was if i remember very linear and boring, that game just ruined everything.

Assassins Creed - I liked the original, tho i didn't like Desmond the story was not bad at first. AC2 is a better game but not my cup of tea that's where i started to lose interest but i gave it another chance and tried Revelations but it was so boring and Desmond only made things worse so i gave up on this franchise.

Tekken - Tekken 1 to 5 are awesome games, Tekken 6 was very dissapointing.

TOCA --> GRID (less content, no decent motorsport environment)
Colin McRae --> DiRT (less content, no decent rally environment, worse graphic style)
Soul Calibur III --> IV (worse gameplay)
Rome Total War --> Medieval II (worse gameplay)
Mega Race 2 --> 3 (big LOL to what they did)
MotorStorm Pacific Rift --> Apocalypse (worse environment)
Crysis 1 --> 2 (no military warfare, only aliens)
Sonic Adventure 2 --> Heroes (worse gameplay, worse levels, worse graphic style)
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 --> 3 --> 4 --> Underground (worse levels, worse style, worse game structure)
One Must Fall 2097 --> Battlegrounds (worse content, less content, worse gameplay)
Virtua Tennis 2 --> 3 (worse gameplay, no smooth graphics)

Worse than disappointing sequels, these awesome games didn't have any sequels at all:
