I was kind of hoping that they were working on Eternal Darkness 2, but that was admittedly a bit of a pipe dream. With Shadow of the Eternals having a planned Wii U release, Nintendo knew of its existence before sending Dyack and company a dev kit, so that pretty much rules out ED2.

Considering the talent Retro has hired in the recent past (2011-August or so last year), I could easily see them working on another Metroid. It wouldn't be Prime 4 because even with the cliffhanger on 3, everything related to the Metroid Prime has been taken care of. Dark Samus was born of the Prime, her Phazon Suit, and the Phazon itself...and she was delt with. It could very well be Metroid Dread....possibly re-tooled to be first person like the Prime Trilogy as it was rumored to be a 2D game, set after the events of Fusion. The Japanese have this superstition about the number 4 too....

Their hires were mainly artists and animators....people from Naughty Dog (enviro artist for U3), Bioware (animator), Junction Point (lead character designer from Epic Mickey I believe), 2 or 3 people from Vigil (contract artist and character designer from Darksiders 2), 2 from Red Fly (Cinematics, worked on Wii Force Unleashed 2), Gearbox (enviro art lead from Borderlands 1), a couple of interns that worked at Viceral while Dead Space was in development, and this guy: http://www.linkedin.com/in/kbtaylor?trk=pub-pbmap  that summary....hella experience.

The contract artist from Vigil, drew this...while not paying attention in class (I would embed, but I don't want my post to be any more massive than it has to be) http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs7/i/2005/235/a/b/Yarrarg_by_reflectingabyss.jpg

They also hired another artist who drew this: http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/023/f/c/a_is_for____by_beastofoblivion-d37u8g9.jpg

I'm pretty sure it's not Star Fox, haha. I think they should let Kamiya make Star Fox since it is his dream project and it would be phenomenal. If it is Metroid...awesome..I love Metroid. If it is a new IP....also awesome considering the talent they've got. ED2 would baffle me at this point, and I am having a hard time coming up with anything else that would use that kind of talent. Whatever Retro is working on though, it is going to be badass. That's for sure.

The art makes me think of the Chozo.  Ravenblade is a dead game, never to return.

I hope they got two projects in the oven. But I think Metroid is very likely.

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Whatever it is, I hope it's a new IP and not another Nintendo franchise. Nintendo themselves should be handling IPs like Star Fox and F-Zero, not giving them to other 2nd party developers who could be working on something else. The fact that Nintendo needed Retro to help them finish Mario Kart 7 in time for the holidays is a joke in and of itself.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

They said that they are working on a game that everyone wants them to make...The most obvious answer is a new metroid game

my worst fear is they are working on the next Mario kart. So i'm going with that

One of Nintendo's EAD team is already confirmed to be working on that...The one that made mario kart 7 and Wii.

Make sure to look at both of their respctive galleries too, RelflectingAbyss and BeastofOblivion....there's some pretty wicked stuff. ReflectingAbyss has some nice dragon stuff that makes me think of Ridley. Raven Blade would be sweet for sure, but I agree that it is incredibly unlikely. Having Platinum make it could be awesome though considering that video that was posted. Personally, I think it's Metroid which is absolutely fine with me.

The Mario Kart 7 team consisted of 8 people. Eight. That's why another small team from Retro was brought in to help finish the game....and they only worked on the classic tracks and Donkey Kong since they had just made DKCR. Retro is also not a second party development studio....they are wholly owned by Nintendo. Platinum is considered second party since they are doing contracted work for Nintendo, but can still work on other projects for other companies if they want. By allowing a second party to hande things.....like Next Level and Luigi's Mansion 2....it free's up Nintendo's main teams to work on other stuff. I would much rather Nintendo handle new things while second parties do stuff to old franchises with Nintendo support. They bring new ideas to the table that Nintendo might not have thought of, and when they need support, Nintendo is there for them to help make the games as solid as if it were a first party title.

I thought this was proven false.....same source as the Metroid x Star Fox rumor that wasn't true.....???  Doesn't mean that they AREN'T doing that of course...just that it was never said (I think).  We do know that they are "too busy to work on Zelda" according to....Reggie? Iwata? Miyamoto?....someone at Nitnendo said that anyway....which is excellent.
