Forums - Gaming - Gamer elitists, why do these people dump on other genres and their fans, like shooters or kinect titles? Where does it come from? What do they gain?

Seen a lot of postings of people crapping on certain genres, mostly shooters and kinect titles and others, insulting their fans and belittling them, that somehow anybody who enjoy those games or gets excited about them arent a true gamer. I understand if you dont enjoy the genre, to each his own, but the hate that comes out i just dont understand?

Shooters are a dime a dozen and require no skill to play, and Kinect, does this really need an answer?

Shooters oversaturated the market and casual gaming was a fad.

People like to moan, most don't even need a reason to.

I wouldn't take it to heart most likely just a bunch of antisocial internet nerds that hide behind the internet and spout ignorance they wouldn't have the balls to say face to face with someone

What takes skill to play? JRPG? RPG? etc... movie games that tell you what button to press to play?

I guarantee you that RPG's  are more of dime a dozen than FPS and they're more generic also.

Because shooters like CoD are driving the industry towards the wrong place and making developers think that more of the same should be the standard, ignoring innovation, experimentation and risk-taking at all cost for the all mighty dollar.

Kinect is just self-explanatory

@Goat

Shooters can take skill just not 90%.

This was a silly thing to say at the beginning of this gen. It's an even sillier thing to say now.

So who's fault is that? If the gamers want Call of Duty you think Activision is going to cancel its development because other devs can't make anything that's comparable to it?

Kinect Adventures sold 20 million. I don't think those who bought the game cared about graphics or whats hip. I think they went for what gaming is about... fun. Self-explanatory.
