If this person has a Wii U, so should you! :D

If on one turns on the Wii, they will never see this message.
And unfortunately for Nintendo...that is the case.

Now this needs to translate into a TV marketing push where the sole concept is that Wii U IS A NEW CONSOLE. Too many people do really think its just an upgrade / tablet for Wii.

Especially with new game marketing.

I don't think it is bad that they are sending direct messages to Wii owners that a new and better system is available.

But their marketing in general over the last few years has been trash. The Nintendo Directs are good but outside of those they seem to have fallen off in understanding how to reach any audience outside of Nintendo faithful and they are suffering for it. I don't know if they lost some key personnel that helped advertise the Wii but I suspect as much given everything I've seen them do to try to market the Wii U and most of their games over the past two years.

I was surprised by this msg this morning. Surprised they didn't send that out in November of last year.

Kinda late now, but I guess better late than never.

But, yeah, I know a few people who's Wii's are either not online or has been glowing blue for years because they don't even know about the msgs.

The Wii owners should answer promptly; "present us with a proper reason first".
What is Nintendo doing? Fabling on about how 3rd will discover them eventually and taking direct contact with Wii owners to try to get them to upgrade. It's as if they're not even trying any more.
It's more clear than ever that they made a lot of huge mistakes in the conception, development, release and support of the Wii U.

Meh, if writing that short message means 250 extra sold Wii U consoles that's a win nonetheless.

Not a bad idea, actually.

What it represents is pretty amusing, though.

Sony sends me PSN messages all the time about crap in the PS Store.

Nothing wrong with marketing like this.

why all the tit for tat, sony sent me emails begging me to buy a PS4 a few times, pretty sure that's what it is about anyway

edit and a vita
