Forums - Sony - Sony’s ad campaign for GTA 5 on PS4?

Just a few hours ago, a Redditor leaked several images of a new commercial shooting set claimed to be for Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V.

But, is it?

According to Adriaan from GTA Forums, the shooting set is from Sony commercial for PlayStation.

It has nothing to do with Rockstar Games or GTA V.

He added that they only “decided to place the V logo in their ad.”

Again, Rockstar had no involvement in the planning or production of the ad (or any other decisions for that matter, like using that poster).

It has nothing to do with Rockstar or any of their titles.

It’s a SONY commercial for PlayStation. Most likely a production for this year’s E3.

Adriaan backed up his claim with this post:

Skepticism is certainly not new to us. The same thing happened with the Spring 2013 posters last year when people called it “fake” and that it had nothing to do with GTAV. When we moved the topic to the official news section, and said to expect an official announcement the following week (it happened, by the way) – there were still people who said the “mods and admins” are too gullible and will believe anything.

In this case, we are actually saying that this live production has absolutely nothing to do with Rockstar Games or GTAV and are met with similar skepticism. We can’t win.

If you don’t trust people who have been involved with fan sites for 10 years, then we won’t try and convince you.

The filming took place in Mexico and here’s a brief description of the advertisement from Redditor marcodj:

The guy in the suit of the last photo exits the totaled car while talking to the camera, as he makes his way out, the car explodes and he walks by the car under the trees while some other effects are set behind him (I managed to see these in a monitor) The shooting took place on Saturday April 20th and lasted until late Sunday.

With E3 2013 is just around the corner, it’s possible that Sony is preparing a marketing push for PlayStation 4 and GTA 5 will be the most suitable choice to promote their next-generation console.

Still, no confirmation has been made over these leaked images, we will reveal more information as we get it.

Ohh so it's confirmed to be a commercial for PS4? I didn't get that from the article but if so, then it certainly changes the perspective and makes the statement very plausible

well it's rumoured to be a ps4 commercial.. so you may be right :)

Of course GTA5 will be on next gen consoles too. They wouldn't want to skip several millions of extra sales, especially as GTA sales always have long legs.

If they're making a PC version I don't see why they wouldn't be able to just lock it in at a specific resolution and frame rate and put it on the gaming PC like PS4 and (rumored) PC like 720
