Some rumors, not all. That is why I am surprised why you say "completely deserved".

The rumored negative "features" of this console far outweigh any positives. 
if these "features" were rumored for the PS4, you would expect the same response. This isn't just Sony fans that are against it, its gamers in general.

Thing is mostly there were not soo many bad rumors but they got repeatedly posted. Also the most recent ones should weigh more than the older ones and they look a lot like what Sony is doing. But subjective perception is of course also a factor which forms an opinion.

Sony is planning on making the PS4 unusuable without an internet connection?  Show me a source.
Sony is planning on blocking used gamse? This rumor has been debunked.

I think at the worst this would act as a sort of "online pass" blocking content on the disc if you buy used, with the option to unlock the full game. The irony is here. When the PS4 rumors were going round then "rumors like this are stupid" and it could be turned into a "good idea". Now youre saying the hate on Microsoft is completely deserved because of rumors.

This is different. I initially had doubt of the rumors since they are obviously very anti-consumer just like anyone else would. But these Xbox rumors keep getting repeated over and over and over again and by different sources and websites. There has to be some truth to them or these things have at least been considered by Microsoft. Hopefully all these negativity is being noticed by Microsoft.

well duh. One is a Sony console, the other is not.

Nope. PS4 or Xbox 720. Any anti-consumer console wouldn't be getting my support and I certainly wouldn't be defending it. 

Gonig back to the comment Carl dug up, Sony had patents like these before. We all know that most patents never get used in consumer products. Most are just there to prevent the competition from using it.

(I told another user this and I'll tell you, I don't care if you don't like me, but keep it out of the discussion. Don't cross that line)

While I do agree that some people are making assumptions and blowing the whole situation out of proportion, the hate isn't unfounded. The rumours are coming from somewhere, some of them have to be true and I don't recall any of them saying anything positive. Throw Adam Orth's Twitter comments and the pre-existing hate for Microsoft into the mix and I can begin to understand why people react the way they do and why they always take these negative rumours as fact.

If they do unveil a great console though, I think Xbox fans are going to deserve an apology from some people and a lot more respect as a whole.

Maybe Microsoft were planning this, and Adam Orth is in on it too.

No he hasn't, actually, and even if he had it would have nothing to do with this thread, so kindly keep your private feud private.

And Somini (and this goes for all other members as well): posting "Reported" when you report somebody has literally zero positive consequences and a whole host of negative ones, not least the fact that you make the user resent you. Reporting is anonymous for a reason.

VGKing just made a little mistake that's all :), the guy is only trying to help. There is nothing wrong with it and it certainly wasn't unfair. I mean i hadn't even commented in the thread but some user is attacking me. If there ever was a reason to report a post, this was it.

There is nothing different at all VGKing.

A rumor is a rumor. It doesnt matter where the rumors start, all that matters is where the rumors finish. You shouldnt listen to them. You shouldnt let them change your opinion on a person, a company or a videogame console.

A rumor is a rumor. A rumor should be discussed whether its true or not. The source of the rumor should also be considered as some sources are more reliable than others. I never let a rumor change my opinion of anyone or anything. Thanks for your concern though. I can't get brainwashed though. I do my own research and form my own opinions.
