I followed the dicussion did you? You made some silly comment about Faces etc. And then Nem was just denfending his viewpoint that he finds the game more impressive than what Sony showed. Which i agree with. And just to be clear here by "Impressive" we mean just that. Nothing more. You then started talking about "technical" fluff. Not relevant to either mine or Nem's point of view. Which is why im still confused about what your on about. No1 is confused about the WiiU's capabilities btw....we all know more or less whats in it. Again that has nothing to do with the game being discussed and how wonderfully impressive it looks |
Silly comments about faces? What is silly about thinking the faces look rough and last gen? Oh, ok. I see. Since I don't share your opinion, or the opinion that all that roughness is only due to the artstyle, I'm silly, don't get it, and shouldn't voice what I think? Nem specifically mentioned the Agni and Deep Down footage. It was obvious from that point that he was referring to the tech side of it. Made clear when he said he won't believe they're real until he see them in playable form.
My original comment about the face was me stating my opinion that it looks quite bad. Am I not allowed to do that? ¬_¬
It then escalated because Nem tried to imply that the rough edges seen on that close up face is due to nothing more than the art style Monolith went for. Not to the limited capabilities of the hardware to render everything with rounder edges.
Now, if I want to talk about the technical aspects of the game in a thread titled "Monolith Soft X game improved graphics?", I think I'm quite at the right place.

Bullshit. Your comment about the faces was just flamebait. The face is like 2 seconds of the trailer, i doubt people were impressed with the trailer because of the face? Like i said its the scale, music and open enviroment that gets me and most others. Your opinion is allowed ofcourse....i havnt said otherwise. But flaming and sarcastic jabs isnt necessary...and it definitely wasnt necessary in this thread.
The rough edges is not because of artstyle. Nem was wrong here. I dont agree with everything NEm said either, i also disagreed with hes PS4 comments if you read my reply to hes post correctly. Notice that we didnt end up in a silly argument like this one. We moved on.
My issue with your initial comment and pretty much all the comments since is that it seems like you deliberately trying to start an argument. And you keeping on with it. So can we end this here?
| Shinobi-san said: WHY DOES EVERY THREAD END IN AN ARGUMENT ON THIS DAMN SITE WTF?!?!?! FFS the game looks good to a lot of people. It looks NEXT GEN to a lot of people. These are certainly not technical terms. If someone could give me the technical measurement that defines next gen then that's a different case. But there isn't. |
It's called debating.
What, do you want every thread to be where everyone agrees on everything? Shit would get real boring, real fast.

I find the trailer technically impressive in its own right. For the reasons ive mentioned earlier in the thread. I havnt seen a game like it to be honest.
Obviously this can easily be surpassed by other next gen systems and who knows maybe even current gens can show the same type of game? The point is thats all theoretical.
Carl nailed it with hes comment.

i didnt think this was a debate though....
Felt more like an argument...for me at least. Ive seen healthy debates on other gaming forums and they dont go down like this.
Edit: I've also been apart of debates on this site....I get the feeling Hynad is kinda just arguing for the sake of it. Nothing i said contradicts what he has been saying. maybe hes lumping me and Nem in the same boat. I don't know. But this is a waste of time. I just wanted to come here and say the game looks good and thats it.
Nothing new in this video, just increased colour saturation. The game still looks great overall, the character's face definitely less so but seeing as this is an early build who knows what improvements we will see before the end.
I hate the amount of flaming that goes on around here, particularly towards the Wii U but there still has to place for healthy debate or things will get boring really fast and for my mind nothing in this thread has crossed that line. My two cents.
Looking forward to seeing more from this game at E3.

I saw it as two people clearly disagreeing on what constitutes something as next gen and giving their views on the matter.
I like it when that happens.

I've watched the old and the "new" trailer 2-3 times now and actually the only difference is the colors. The japanese trailer has waaay higher color saturation, but I think that might be a mistake, as at the same time a lot of the blacks in the darker scenes are "crushed" (meaning a big part of the dark portions are just all black with no details in the dark, here an example) - it's a sign that a limited color range might have been shown in a full RGB color garmut setting.
Concerning "the face looks last gen", well it looks a loooot like Edge Maverick from Star Ocean 4 (not only artistically, but also in the sense of detail of modelling and shading etc), which is a gen 7 game..
Looks the same

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.
