Forums - Sony Discussion - Capcom: “We’ve Got no Plans for a PS Vita Monster Hunter at the Moment”

I'm a sony fan, i am not shedding any tears. Pretty sure there are lots of others in the same boat, that couldnt care less, but it's important perhaps for Japan to sell more Vitas.

It's a little ironic to see Sony fans shed so many tears over being treated "unfairly" by third parties. If the same hadn't happened to Nintendo, Sony never would've got its place in the industry.

It's totally different. Teh Vita doesn't have Mario 64.

I guess that's why capcom keep making 360 Monster Hunters >_>. Monster Hunter practically made the PSP. It could've made the Vita as well. Capcom made the deal way before either 3DS or Vita had much of an install base.

It could have, yeah.

Like I said, the Vita needs Monster Hunter. Monster Hunter doesnt need Vita.

But Capcom loves money. They would get more money if they made a Vita game. Nothing is stopping them from making both Vita games and 3DS games, except Nintendo's checks

The problem here is that Capcom is greedy AND stupid.    Capcom is really stupid for accepting this deal, because, even though at first they are getting more money, on the long run they are neglecting sales on other consoles which will give them more money than what nintendo payed them.   And also by releasing the game on all the possible platforms (3DS and VITA) from the start gets you a better userbase for the next game.  It is just plain stupid, unless they have some secret agenda.

or Capcom is greedy, stupid AND LAZY AS FUCK.  They get easy money so they dont have to do some extra work in order to port the game for the VITA.

So, over on the Capcom Forums, a user started thread about a PlayStation Vita version of Monster Hunter, to which Yuri Lindbergh, Community Specialist at Capcom USA (1) replied by saying, “Sorry, we’ve got no plans for a PSVita Monster Hunter at the moment,” but “[Monster Hunter] Freedom Unite is up on the PS store.” (2)

And finally, Gametrailers posted a “Memo to Capcom” (3) video earlier this week, with Christian Svensson saying in response, “If reliving the past and rehashing what we already know gets them hits, more power to em.”

Did Nintendo pay them not to develop Vita games or what? o.O

(1) Would this guy even be in the loop for MH Vita (which would probably be Japan-centric)?

(2) Fabulous attempt to make a fool of his public. Does he know the basic elements of politeness?

(3) So sour... loved that.

Capcom is in bad shape financially speaking and image-wise. They need to get it together and stop letting themselves moneyhatted by manufacturers or blinded by trends. They won't get very far by looking down on their fans : upset fans means less spending fans.

Capcom hasn't shared much of its future plans and MH4 release is still unknown while most summer games have their date. Hopefully that means some revelations are under way. Other than that one of course, which was also "Nintendo exclusive" at some point btw...

It's like they don't want money or something.

Where exactly does the Vita benefit Capcom at all?

- Lower userbase (much lower)

- More expensive development cost

They can sell far more Monster Hunter games on the 3DS at a cheaper dev cost. Why even bother with the Vita. Capcom isn't supporting the platform at all anyway.

The real reason honestly Sony even got a whiff of Monster Hunter was because the DS wasn't that great at running polygonal graphics. Now that the 3DS can do an adequete job of it, Capcom simply doesn't need Sony.

Japan's biggest 3rd party franchise should be with Japanese biggest selling hardware. To the victor go the spoils, that's the way its always been, where people crying this much when the GameCube didn't get Final Fantasy X or MGS2?

That would make sense if this wasn't Capcom we're talking about. They've released games on ps2, ps3 (right?), psp (biggest success), pc, x360 (terrible sales), Wii, and now 3ds and WiiU (terrible install base as well). They even released a spin off on psp which did quite well (did particularly well with female gamers). Had there not been a deal with Ninty, they would have released some kind of port on vita, so that they can get even more sales. It's simply put how their business works.

Keep in mind that most ninty games sell from well to insanely well on ninty consoles, while Sony games sell from great (never amazing) to terrible. Third parties abandoning ninty platforms makes more sense. Though there are brilliant excpetions for both companies, in general 3rd parties sell better on ps consoles, hence the lack of truly iconic characters for Psallstars.

This is getting tiring. I don't care if MH will not have a MH on vita (at least this year or 2 years from now).
I would rather Sony make their own game on Vita, like they did with the PS3.
Contract 3rd party developers to make games for them if their 1st party devs. is too busy creating games for the PS4. Build new Ips that's Vita exclusive.

I also hope this signals their Japan studio to step up their game but I doubt it.

Anyway, Whether if Nintendo paid or not. Sony really drop the balls in not securing MH and it's all Sony's fault.

Given the Vita's sales, I'm not sure why anyone is surprised.

Vita is surpassing XBOX's sales in Japan or already did. And yet we see exclusive MH games coming that sold 6k first week.. It's all about moneyhatting.

If your argument was valid no one would develop any game at 2011 when it had 0 sales !

If you ask me, I would say that Sony discussed the project with Capcom but it somehow failed. "They were present at the presentation of the Vita in Jan2011, and they showed how good a MH would be on vita with the dual analog sticks".. Then Sony turned to develop new Hunting titles instead: Soul Sacrifice, Valhalla Knights 3, Toukiden..

Are you refering to that old PC Monster Hunter game that was ported to 360?
