The game might still turn out OK but I can't get over these designs. And you just know their personalities will end being grating.

I'll just say I'm hardly the only one who writes games/anime off because of designs like these...

Glad the new Atelier game has moved away from these types of designs for the most part.

I know you aren't. It's worse than there are people who are just xenophobic about it, but this just as annoying. You don't infer character personality from a single piece of character art. I have no idea what the game will be like, but to make this assumption is silly.

The new atelier hasn't really changed its art. The game uses a different way to render models and environments that make it look less anime-ish.

Yeah the idea that JRPG fans are skipping a great game like Totori simply because of the main character's design kinda saddens me.

Yeah the idea that JRPG fans are skipping a great game like Totori simply because of the main character's design kinda saddens me.  

I don't get it personally. I enjoy games of all genres and if the art is good, it's good. I don't care what style or who drew it.

Well Compile Heart wasn't just going to make Bravery Default 2. Having a new IP with the design I like is very fine by me. I wonder what Amano ends up doing in the end though... Anyway, GRPG is born, long live GRPG!

Moe designs don't resonate too well with me either but I personally loved the time I spent with Atelier Rorona and am looking forward to playing Totori in the near future.

Anyway... that girl from the scan, the bow in her hair literally just looks like the d-pads in Neptune's hair:
