Repost from the locked thread.

They have nothing to show at E3... just it.

And anything that they show will be obfuscated by PS4 and Nextbox.

New post but similar from the other thread.

Kinda like how the ps3 failed against the Wii right?

Sony would kill to have a franchise close to one of Nintendo's top 5.

Why should Sony envy them? Because of the quality of gameplay? That is subjective. Because of sells? The top five? Number five is NSMBWii and that franchise's successor already released with the WiiU and it's sells are nothing compared to what its predecesor achieved and it hasn't sold as well as Sony's best franchises, which brings Mario to a new reality, or the reality it has had before the Wii. We will wait and see how the rest of the top five perform when released on the WiiU.

If you think that sells make companies envious of other people's IPs then I guess you feel Nintendo is envious of Activision and Rockstar IPs.

New super Mario bros games are long time sellers. The same way Mario Kart is a long time seller. So far, with less than 4million WiiU sold, they sold over 2.5million NSMBU... That is excelent numbers considering the number of hardware out there. And that game will keep selling during the entirity of WiiU's lifepan. Most like 1 out of every 3 WiiU hardware sale will mean a automatic NSMBU sale. No question that this game will sell over 5million lifetime. It's success is entirely upon the hardware's sucess now, if WiiU sales reach 50mil, their is no doubt in my mind that NSMBU will reach around 15mil.

I am not saying the game is a bad seller by its own standards. Not all games need to sell over five millions to be successful, just enough to have profit. That is why I quoted the above post. He says that Sony envies Nintendo's IPS because of those "5 best" Nintendo franchises, and the best selling ones have been on the Wii. Apart from the Wii, Nintendo franchises sell very well, but not a huge amount over the best Sony ones.

5 million lifetime is possible, especially if bundled. 15 mil lifetime only if bundled and realy on and/or if WiiU takes off and sells a little better than the current situation.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Some industry insight for you,
when you've released a console that needs to be supported by gamers your best tool is social media and online news outlets (gaming sites), releasing information at E3 is more than just about the people tuning in over the net in excitement, its also about the media blitz that follows each primary conference, news from smaller events at E3 usually gets washed away under the tide of news from the big events and thats exactly whats going to happen to nintendo this year, they'll have their little shindigs, nintendo groupies (the really deaperate ones) will trawl the net for news and spread all the tidbits they can between other nintendo fans in their own little world while everyone else will be seeing mass thread creationa about sony/microsoft hardware, games, services, pricing, speculation and so on, the international games media will be no different, nintendo-specific sites will obviously carry any news they can, but nintendo newa on multiplatform sites is going to drown.

it was an extremely poor descision by nintendo to drop their e3 slot in favor of smaller ones, in a long line of bad nintendo descisions the past year, and i do beleieve theyre going to feel the ramifications of that choice after E3.

So what's the difference between what you said and what has been happening over the last few years? You make it sound like Nintendo had an equal share on multiplatform sites that will be gone now.

the difference is that no matter how bad a primary conference all attenting media post about practically every single bit of news, smaller sites and those who couldnt attend report on what they see on the live feed, take away the big conference and the 'big three' become the 'big two', no matter how you butter the bread the media exposure from a smaller event at e3 will never hit the same figures holding a larger conference will, regardless of actual content of the event.

gaming media actually treat it like a game to see who can post the first bit of news from major conferences first, many having live text feeds and so on, smaller events are left to specialist/specific media then eventually picked through by the major media outlets 'when theyre done appeasing readers about the major events' all the 'bits you might have missed' come in recaps after e3 is over and when the media blitz about the main ones is subsiding.

however you feel previous nintendo conferences went, doqnsizing e3 is suicidal in the long run.

Change is always bad. It's better to go with the flow.

I do not get a picture of what Nintendo is planning. Someone please explain me.

Iwata said in the last Wii U direct, that they will show HUGH GAMES at this years E3 like Mario Kart, Smash Bros. and 3D Mario. But how WITHOUT A PRESS CONFERENCE?! So they have a booth there and say: "Hey people here is Smash Bros. Go play a demo at our booth"

So there has to be an event where they plan to unveil their big hitters. But how and where?

Do they plan to make a huge event just before E3 to overshadow Microsoft and Sony?

I think (or hope?) that what they are planning is something like this:

1-Instead of a conference aimed at gamers viewing the even through the web (from GameSpot, Gametrailers, Nintendo's web, etc), press and retailers they will simply air a Nintendo Direct (or 2) aimed to gamers.

2-At the same time, they will host closed events for the retailers and the press where, besides talking they will be able to try the games (I take it from the "Among these hands-on events will be one for American distributors and another for western media" sentence), as well as having their usual both for the rest of the press and attendants.

The result end result of this will depend on the media. The pro-Nintendo and the neutral ones will still be able to post impressions of the games as well as having all kinds of media (pics, videos, interviews, etc), the only difference will be that they won't be able to cover a conference. The media that is less prone to agree with Nintendo may use the lack of conference as an excuse to not talk about Nintendo and their games on the show, or do it only briefly.

The general media is the big question. Without a conference they will get less publicity, but if those medias are present on the hands-on events they will still talk about them and the games.

Ah bummer!!! Well that's what we get for laughing so hard at them back in 2008 E3.

Basically, everyone is getting exactly what they want out of E3 and directly from Nintendo. Gamers get game announcements and trailers without all of the sales and marketing fluff. Press gets hands-on time without the limitations of the booth setup or the long lines. Businessmen get shown games to see what is coming, but mostly talk about marketing and sales strategy. In their press release about the subject, they mentioned having several Nintendo Directs leading up to E3. I'm guessing a 3DS one to talk more about release dates, show off more LttP2, and Miiverse coming to the system, possibly more XL colors. Then, a Wii U one showing trailers for Mario, Mario Kart, WWHD, Bayo 2, SMT x FE, X, Pikmin 3, Smash Bros and finally Retro's game. Maybe some release windows for those (but they'll all be out before the FY is done, aside from Smash most likely). It's going to be massive. They might even have a separate 3rd party/eShop/Miiverse direct just so they can focus on their first party titles in one sitting.

I could even see Nintendo going the extra mile and putting E3 demos on the eShop for people at home because of the way Iwata worded this quote, "we are continuing to investigate ways to deliver information about our games directly to our home audience around the time of E3." We know there will be Directs and videos from those Directs, so why wouldn't he have just said that? It's VERY optimistic, so I won't exactly get my hopes up over it.

The games they plan on talking about are all coming out this FY according to Nintendo. The teams working on games have mostly been silent in the past 2-3 years aside from 3DS titles. I don't think Nintendo would allocate an entire EAD group to a handheld title that will need less work overall. Many of those 3DS titles have been made in conjunction with smaller studios like Brownie Brown and Grezzo. We won't get another awkward Skyward Sword demo that doesn't exactly work...these games are basically in Nintendo's "polish" phase or are very close. I think they will bundle Mario Kart as it will move systems like crazy, most likely with the Deluxe because the incentives there will lead to more people buying other things on the eShop.

The one thing I'll say is that they need announce the ND's earlier in order to tease and hype them. If they intend to replace E3 with these, they NEED to build hype. This whole.....announce it less than 24 hours in advance thing isn't going to fly. I don't mind the pleasant surprise, but they definitely need to do work.

Another thing that bugs me is the silence on things like W101, it's still a Q2 release after all. Then you've got things for casuals like Wii Fit U and Wii U Party (which I feel should be changed to Mii Party....people love Mii's). I'm not sure if throwing those out there with the likes of Mario and Mario Kart would be the smartest thing. It would be smart to at least release Wii Fit for the summer because people are trying to stay in shape so they can look good at the beach or whatever.

Yet again, Nintendo doesn't do anything that anyone expects them to do. We'll see how it pans out for them.

Actually when I think about it... Who the hell cares? They are never any good at E3 anyways just a big waste of money maybe they them selfs realize this and feel there is no point I mean they couldn't wow anyone other then their own fan base with two straight E3's and now the PlayStation 4 and the new Xbox will be at E3 they would have No chance at anything so what they do? Hide in the shadows and show what little they have to whoever still care... Smart move other wise they might of got laughed at right off the stage.

A few follow-up questions to your post:

Who is Nintendo's fan base?

Why will the inclusion of new hardware from Sony and Microsoft preclude Nintendo from "winning" E3?

Why would Nintendo get "laughed...right off the stage"?

Nintendo's fan base: are the hardcore Nintendo fans/boys they seems to have lost the Casuals because they are not biting the Wii u bate and simply move on to smartphones and tablets

Why they wouldn't win E3: IMO I don't think they can win with just 3-4 games versus 2 new console reveals and games for both I mean have you seen that little pS event? Nintendo or even Microsoft have never has a event as good as that that I can remember Imo

why would anyone laugh at Nintendo?: it would be Wii u that looks the same as PS3/360 versus PS4/720 that looks like PC on top of that everytime anyone utter Nintendo's name when talking about PS4/720 they laugh (mark rein/everyone there)

again just my Opinion and I think I got something's to back up what I think so yeah...

TechXIII: Listen To Our Story.

I think the main reason that this bothers me though is just that I don't like how it looks at a visceral level.

You hear all this shit talk about the Wii U not even counting as a next-gen console, and that it doesn't deserve to be talked about on the same terms as the PS4 and the 720. Yet at the first E3 in which those two will be featured, Nintendo is scaling back their presence. It comes off like a concession that it doesn't deserve to be on the same stage, which plays into the shrill bleating of the doomsayers.

I wanted to see Nintendo do a conference because I wanted them to fight back against the shit-talk head on. Showcase a slate of solid heavy hitters on stage as proof that the system is worth buying just like the other two next gen consoles, in the most visible way possible. Small, closed pressers and floor shows simply don't have that same kind of impact to me.
