Forums - Gaming - NatGeo's "The Evolution of Video Games" The 80's: The Decade that Made US

Way too mainstream and "American" for my tastes.

Tsubasa Ozora

I don't think that's the kind of evolution that this timeline is designed to show.

i don't understand how Starcraft and Halo are on this list. They really not stand out to me as evolutionary. And whats so special about WoW? Ocarina of Time should be on here too since it basically invented the lock-on mechanic, though im not sure exactly what this timeline is about

Really? For lock-on? Starcraft and Halo both set standards and changed the face of gaming. Starcraft is a new sport and Halo is freaking HALO.  I do agree that Zelda deserves a spot on the list, but it's a small timeline and everything can't make it on.

Seems MS bias to me mainly because of the Halo and Kinetic bullets.

I mean, Doom, Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat, Quake, Tomb Raider, Super Mario 64 or even something like Half Life/Counter Strike deserve their own bullets on a evolution of video games more then Halo.

As someone said, Kinetic should have been bundled with the Wii, Eyetoy and the Move. I also wouldn't give Angry Birds its own bullet without mentioning the rise of iPhone/Andriod markets in general.

No mention of Pokémon or any handheld console including the DS. For shame. No mention of the 2600 for crying out loud!
