come on guys the 3rd one is great! It's nearly perfect. If you were a parent and didn't know much about video games it looks like a heap of fun. Very cute and family friendly ad.

Yeah but no one likes those ads!

Take this one for example:

That's much better family add.

Or that one. They don't even show why the car is good, yet they're infinitely better family friendly commercials.

I'm sorry I don't understand what you are on about. I think the 3rd Nintendo ad makes the Wii U look like a tonne of fun for the whole family. 'Family friendly' as in a great fun gift for the family and 'cute' as it is a great gift to buy your young kid. I'm not sure how a family friendly car ad can be compared. You don't buy a car for your 5 year old daughter.

The car ads I showed because they do the same thing but much better. Neither the Wii U ad or the car ads are actually trying to sell you on the pros of their product. Instead they are trying to associate something good with the product. In Nintendo's case they have a scripted looking family "having fun" with the Wii U. They are basically trying to sell it to consumers by selling "a good family time" to the consumers. With the car ads they are doing the exact same thing yet in a much, much better way. The first one sells "children magic" and in the second one they are selling "a happy time."

But the 3rd ad which I keep referring too does show many of the pros of the WiiU.

- Better graphics

- You can play on the gamepad

- The gamepad also has a touch screen.

- It makes you feel like a kid again.

- It's a fun time, it's something different

I prefer the Japanese TV commercials. They're relaxing to watch and feel so much more genuine. Here's a few:

Those actually were pretty nice. Nintendo marketing understands Japan better I guess.

But seriously god these commercials are horrid. They had better start advertising some of these games they don't have soon.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Yeah, those NintendoLand Japanese ones looked nice plus the super Wii was a good launch commercial

Well if it makes NOA feel better, the Wii U isn't selling any better in Japan or Europe.

I think that these commercials are more towards the casual fans. The people who don't only play 1 game a year, like us, pretty much know about the Wii U already.

Make me feel better if a supposed Nintendo fan actually would stop dissing Nintendo every chance you get.

That's just the truth.

I like Nintendo games, but I dislike their management and where that has taken them as a company and warped them into a narrow minded corporation that banks everything on about six game franchises, and does pretty much everything else (marketing, third party relations, hardware development, OS design, online networking, cutting off Western alliances unless it's working on a old Nintendo IP, etc. etc.) poorly.

Has Nintendo fucked up with Wii U launch? Sure. However, I see nothing wrong with their online networking (hell Miiverse kicks ass). They are courting indie developers heavily (if you want 20+ links on this then I can provide). They made a lot more new IPs than most people want to admit (I can list a decent amount of new IPs on Wii, DS, 3DS, WiiWare, DSiWare, 3DS eshop). They are about to release a patch for the OS that speeds it up greatly. Their web browser kicks the PS3 and 360 web browser's ass. To me you only have marketing, hardware design, and 3rd party support as legit arguments. Also, I really don't give a fuck that EA and other western developers hate Nintendo because I don't give a fuck about them.
