Just release it and move on to Kingdom Hearts III already...when KH2 released I was still in the first year of academic high school, in 2 years I am going to have my Bachelor...

Congrats on that man. It's a real accomplishment!!

Haha, thanks^^

By the way, the latest rumour never touched upon the the possibility of Final Fantasy Versus XIII being rebranded as Final Fantasy XV. Do any of you think it will be rebranded? Or do you think that rumour is now dead? I feel like it's going to stick to the Versus XIII name and I kind of hope it does. I've associated this game with that name too much that calling it Final Fantasy XV would be weird.

FFXIII had half of the content slashed and the quality had to be downgraded due the 360 version... that is pretty much known by anybody

This is bullcrap, FF13 had half its content cut/not ready on time cos it was taking them too long to develope the game thanks to the PS3 being so hard to develope for thats why they switched to the 360 also and figured they could just Make FF13-2 that was an SE choice not an MS one Maybe if it was exclusive to the 360 from the start it would of been finished much faster and of been a better game, Why do you think MistWalker was able to Make a "Real FF" game Lost Odysee that had everything that FF13 should of had and was finished in a smaller amount of time and was exclusive to the X360??.

lol a better and finished version of the game was ready for production 12 months early for PS3... the game was delayed, cut and downgraded just because the 360 port. Please don't put the time for developer the game into PS3 because the game was finished a year early for it.

The was nothing that was Cut from the PS3 version cos of the 360 its as simple as that or else why wasnt the japan version that was exclusive to the PS3 and released before the 360 version this better finished version??. Maybe cos its just a pipe dream in your head?? really dude check some facts out first it was an SE choice the content wasnt included in the PS3 version the so called finished version that was meant to be finished on the PS3 12 months before hand had nothing in it that the final game didnt SE needed to release the 360 version to make back what they spend developing the PS3 version simple as.

Its just why FF13vs, The Last guaden or whatever its called GT5 etc all took soo long cos the PS3 was hard to develope for compared to the 360, 360 had a number of JRPG's including LO and 2 forza games by the time GT5 and FF13 was released on the PS3 and we still have not seen much of FF13vs and LG etc .

All of this is largely speculative...there are no statements to back any of these claims...however, playing the game, I did notice that more than half the games story is told through static text, which leads me to believe that there was more content planned than actually made the game. I do admit this is speculative, but its not the first time an RPG from SE saw a large portion of a game hit the cutting room floor (Xenogears and its largely text based 2nd disc.) I would also note the antgonists having realtively no presence in the story as well, amongst other things...Whether it was budget, time constraints, or an unecessary port to the 360; there's no denying that the story for this game was heavily edited.

-- Nothing is nicer than seeing your PS3 on an HDTV through an HDMI cable for the first time.

I hope that Final Fantasy XV isn't a rebranding of Versus XIII, as I personally would rather have the next main installment in the series start fresh.

I feel similarly. Not to mention it's highly likely that Hiroyuki Ito is directing the next mainline Final Fantasy and he was the director for VI, IX, and XII (multiples of three) and that trend mustn't be broken!

Highly doubtful

A game in Finaly Fantasy gets its number from the universe its set it.  Final Fantasy 13 versus is in the same universe as 13 is, thus why its named as such.  If any new game that features MIdgard or stuff from FF7 comes out, it would be FF7 (something)

If a ff7 sequal I guess game out, it woulnd't be ff15, it would be FF7-2 or something like that.

Take out all quotes or outside information from the directors and producers...

If you had played the game, you would realize that the content doesn't fit the game.  You go from cutscene to cutscene for 25 to 30 hours with no options.  The game has a linear path with no hidden dungeons, minimal branching paths all of which are dead ends, very obvious treasure chests, no sidequests, no minigames (outside of one mandatory one during Chapter 4 and a single optional one near the end of Chapter 8), you don't even have the ability to choose your party members, you can't backtrack, there are no NPCs, there are no traditional shops, there are no traditional towns, there are no optional party members, you have level caps, grinding is heavily discouraged, and you are forced to use the characters the game tells you.  This was a conscious decision.  Freedom and optional content was not what they had in mind for the first 10 chapters.  This is why they said "content volume concerns".  They wanted a very controlled experience.

If you knew anything about the development of the game, you'd know there was massive miscommunications within the team.  People were creating assets for ideas long since cut.  People were rendering cutscenes to story bits that had been changed ten times over by that point.  They didn't even have the battle system set till the Advent Children Demo.

Kitase and Toriyama call Final Fantasy XIII an "Interactive Movie RPG".  They wanted a linear, movie like experience.  The content you speak of was cut enable to accomplish this.

I had other interview with Kitase saying otherwise... but forget what I said in this thread... the guys here are too exalted to understand .

"As far as Kitase is concerned, FFXIII isn't even really a role-playing game. "We didn't really intend to work within with the RPG template," he says. "We wanted to create a new game, even a new genre. The way we look at it, there's isn't a certain format that we have to keep to and build a game around. Rather, it goes the other way around. We create a game and, depending on what works or doesn't work within that game, it ends up reflecting different staple elements."

"Because players are presented with multiple different situations on the field, in a lot of senses FFXIII is more like an FPS than an RPG," says director Motomu Toriyama.

"Kitase and Toriyama are determined to give gamers a lush, cinematic experience, and to that end they've severely limited player freedom to minimize the possibility that you might encounter a blemish."

"The earlier part of the game is designed so that players get accustomed to both the storyline and the battle system,"

"When you look at most Western RPGs, they just dump you in a big open world, and let you do whatever you like... [It] becomes very difficult to tell a compelling story when you're given that much freedom."

"The content that was cut were in various stages of development. We took a step back from having a lot of ideas upfront and then cutting them a little by little as the game was being completed. This is a normal process when developing a game, so this is not particular to Final Fantasy XIII. If we did cut the content it wasn’t fit for the final product, which is why it didn’t make it in. "

"The game, unlike previous titles in the series, includes no explorable town areas; Toriyama said in an interview that the team was unable to make them as graphically appealing as the rest of the game and chose to eliminate them."

"These areas were running in an unreleased build of Final Fantasy XIII, but were cut from the final version due to considerations about game balance and game volume."

im confused by ethomaz, he posts a video to explain his point but it does not, if anythng it goes agasint what he was saying. In the video Kitase says that the PS3 games was ALREADY done and then they ported it over. How do you explain that?

he hasn't played the game so he has no idea how bad the game really is at its core.. so after that we don't care about his opinion that the 360 downgraded ff13 anymore..

I get that i just wanted to see how he was going to spin it, for curiosity's sake.

it wasnt the same universe, it was said at the time that the fabula nova crystallis titles shared the same mythology/lore but were set in different worlds with different histories. the story behind ethros and the divinities is the only connection.
