@ Gamerace: No way it's correct then, I already KNOW Jigglypuff is in...
My point is they weren't unlocked via SSE, so the original statement was incorrect.

There could be alternate ways of unlocking a lot of the characters. Like in brawl. And at Soriku...seriously. No Sora. Brawl is for classic and nintendo characters. Sora is hardly classic.

A few things.

First: He said most characters would be unlocked through subspace emissary. This was misinterpreted. What he was saying was that was the way most of the unlockable characters would be unlocked, not that more than 50% of the characters in the game were unlockable.

Second: All characters to this point have not been unlocked in Subspace Emissary. Marth was unlocked by beating Classic Mode on normal. Wolf, the only missing character, has yet to be unlocked as well.

Third: The character list (seen here: http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/2228/rosterthusfaral8.jpg ) is completely out of space except for one spot. This is pretty important, because when that one spot is filled by Wolf, in between Dedede and Lucario, the list will be pushed to the right, Bowser down to the bottom row, and EVERY character will be lined up perfectly by franchise. Do you really think this would happen in an incomplete list, and if it would happen in an incomplete list, why didn't the list ever line up by franchise before?

Fourth: It's just too much to ask for the 35 character roster to be coincidence. Every single character, even down to the unlikelies like ROB. Clearly there was real insider information here. You guys may not have used the internet before Melee, but I did, and the full Melee roster was revealed on gamefaqs months before release as well. No one believed it though because they thought Game & Watch was ridiculous (Similar to R.O.B.'s effects on the perception of this leak).

The rules of Melee do not apply to this game. You know why we got less surprises? Because we sacrificed surprises for hype. That was the purpose of the dojo. We were given the privilege of massive amounts of pre-release information about this game, but you don't get benefits without sacrifice. The sacrifice in this case was the surprise of the newcomers, most of whom were revealed on the website.

The character increase in this game was 1 more net gain than Melee was to the original Smash, but because 4 old clones were removed, it was actually a total of 15 brand new characters, and 16 if Toon Link turns out to have a different move set from Young Link. The issue is people simply had unrealistic expectations for the amount of characters who would be in this game. I have been predicting 35-40 for good reason... because it's about the same increase that Melee was to Smash 64. However, IMO we got a lot more quality for our quantity this time, and I wish others could see that rather than constantly demanding more out of this game.

Not to be rude, but would you quit defending this game like it's your first born child? Yes, it's amazing. Yes, we all are dying of anticipation of finally getting it. However, on every brawl thread thats sprung today, any hint of criticism, and you leap upon it and tear the person apart. It's going to be one of the best games of all time; that being said, we can still complain about things we don't like/think could be better about it. It's not God's gift to mankind, it's a game, made by some dudes in japan. It's not flawless in every single minute possible way.

If you have no response to the evidence, then don't waste both our times quoting me.  How's that sound?  I was hardly defending the game.  I was pointing out the evidence agains the assertion made in this topic.  Then I said to appreciate it for what it is rather than what it's not.  A nice tip for you:  That's a good way to look at everything in life.  You'll be much happier.

There's no way ROB is in as anything besides an enemy in the Subspace Army, heaven forbid him from being a playable character...

This makes perfect sense, since R.O.B. hasn't made it to "playable" status in any other games, after all.

And, after all, no other goofy characters like Mr. Game-and-Watch made it, either. Even more, to multiple games in the series.

He was just giving very good reasons why some people's theories are wrong and such.

He's been posting in various Brawl threads because people keep MAKING these Brawl threads...asking about the roster and everything.  It's become obvious to me that the list seems set at 35...though perhaps one or two more secret characters isn't totally impossible, I find it highly unlikely.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I was about to scold you about ROB...

But I see what you did there.

^Me too Ben! XD

Well there is still that month and a week wait for NA release. Granted it's probably so there's a good amount of time between Japan and NA release so there is no shortage and to iron out possible bugs or have nicer/smoother translations. But it does give them enough time to maybe sneak in another character or two.

I would love to see TMNT chars in there. 1 character but can switch between them instead of changing colors or something.

Hey, I didn't really expect it to be more than 2-3 characters, and I don't care if R.O.B is in. He probably won't be an annoying character which stops me from playing as I want, and that is most important. Sure, he might beat me, but I'm actually more afraid of charcters like Sonic, who moves so fast I might be unable to play the way I want to.

What would you prefer? Characters 1-34, or characters 1-34 + R.O.B? I'd prefer the last, since some people find R.O.B better than 1-34, and that makes them more happy about the game.

If I made the rooster, I can surely say, that it wouldn't be as appreciated. I doubt any of you could make a better one. And no, the option to put in 350 characters isn't there, because it has to fit on the disc.

Frankly, I would have bought the game even if it was just Melee with Wii controls and slightly better graphics. Everything else is just a bonus.
Look at what you got, instead of what you dont.

35 (or something) unique charcters!
Online!
Marvellous single-player!
Co-Op
Lots of other modes!
Trophies, sticker and so on!
Great music!
The best writers in the history of Video-games!
And last, A freaking STAGE BUILDER!

This game might not be the perfect game, but hey, you gotta admit, it's pretty close.
