Forums - Sales Discussion - "3DS at 8 millions in the US, better than the DS in the same timeframe"

Saw this over on NeoGaf

In an interview, Fils-Aime says Nintendo has sold 8 million 3DS devices in the U.S. since launching in 2011, ahead of the original DS' pace of 7 million during the same period of time.

What do we have it listed at?

Edit - 9M for all North America.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Wasn't the 3rd year the year the NDS sales exploded though?

9 million for NA, so 8 million for US sounds good

Yeah But DS lite came in 3rd year. Nintendo needs another revision.

I am guessing though that this 8M is as of the latest shipment info.

Still good numbers either way.

I have yet to get a 3DS for myself (Fiance has one, but it's purple). I hope they do a new revision and have a special Zelda edition for the new LttP sequel.

I would buy one for myself.

I think we will get one, maybe not this year but in 2014, 3DS Pro or something like that, all the aesthetic changes of the XL, better battery life, maybe better 3D effect and a 2nd analog nub. Personally i think DSi should have never released and instead save those new features for 3DS, it would have made it seem like a bigger upgrade

8.2m for USA. So too high.

Was hoping you would respond.

I thought we would be a bit high. Still, not bad if this is based on the latest NPD info that is set to release tomorrow.

Everyone saying 3rd year is "what counts" or something doesn't know math.

DS launch: Nov 2004
New Super Mario Bros: May 2006 (18 months after launch)
DS Lite release: June 2006 (19 months after launch)
Holiday 2006 was 24/25 months after launch

3DS is currently midway through its 25th month.
