Forums - Sony - Sony says PS4 price will appeal to gamers “in the broadest sense”

Please Sony give use hardcore games the old times again.

To me the best games-era was PSX and it was especially 3rd parties which had soooo many wonderful games on PSX. Konami and Square especially.

Only Gran Turismo comes to my mind...

People that expect PS4 to be $400....

You're being delusional. Sony's not going to try take a $100+ loss again. They don't have the funds to.

The hell? Sony can perfectly take a $100 loss per unit and its probably what they'll take with PS4. In fact Sony's loss with PS2 was above $100 with PS2 launch too.

Its not gonna be comparable to PS3 which was $600 and Sony still made around $300 loss on each unit.

Hmm.. I hoped they would say "people" instead of "gamers" ...gaming is an expensive hobby..

1.No they can't. Maybe when they were riding on the back of the dominant PS1, but they sure can't take that big of a loss now. They don't have the financial strength to do so.

2.And completely wiped out the profits of 10 years of PS1 and PS2 dominance.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

I would love it, as a consumer, if the system was $300 or $350. But I can't imagine that will happen. I think $450 and $500 are the likely prices, with $400 as the absolute lowest at launch.

But it's a mystery to everyone. All I know is that "in the broadest sense" is a non-story.

I expect:
$399,- 32gb flash version (or 28gb whatever is left after OS, same as with the 12gb super slim) + demo disk
$499,- 500gb hdd version with ps+ trial.

Sony already announced that every PS4 will have a large amoutn of storage, so a flash storage version is really not likely to happen. They want more people to buy digital media so i'm expecting a 320gb drive at least, probably even 500gb.

Sony is not stupid enough to take $100 loss per console cause they can't afford to do that now.

Looking at specs i expect the ps4 will be about $400 to produce tops, they are not taking a $100 loss if they sell it at $400. The question is do they want  to make a profit on every unit sold.

They will and can. Sony's consoles have always been loss leaders, look up what it means. They make up for it with software and psn sales.

You mean Sony wiped out all their profits from the PS1 and PS2, did they really?

So it will be free?
