well said... but microsoft might give it a push too, to kill nintendo with their 3rd party...
but if they put on a 4 gig with a much cheaper console, now they could turn the table against sony being too expensive again like the ps3 era, until the technology catch up, until the pocket catch up, until a price cut has been implemented

Microsoft wont deny third parties the 8GB of ram they demanded.

you work in the gaming industry? how did you know they demand it?

its like saying game industries demanded blu ray last gen

I have been talking about the 8GB of ram since way before PS4 launch because the devs stated they wanted Microsoft and Sony to have it. Ives from Ubisoft had been hounding Microsoft and Sony for newer tech because of the decline in power and sales this gen.

It won't matter much anyways.

Games will be scaled to fit and 7GB of RAM won't be needed for a game anyways. Hell, 4GB isn't even needed on a heavily unoptimized PC, let alone 7GB on a highly optimized console.

WiiU won't have a technical reason to be ignored.

Skyrim demanded 4GB of ram on PC recommended (not minimum).

but that is not demanding it...

most likely microsoft will have 4-8 gig

but on the stand point of their business mind we are not really sure...

if they want to F*ck up sony, they could pull a 2 gig for wii u and now developers would start making games for 2 gig since it has more market for both console combined.... like i said, i am pretty sure they will boost their gigs but if microsoft wants to mess sony (because they sharethe same market) then they could go that route

There is an ongoing discussion on how WiiU will handle PS4 games if PS4 is using 7 gig of RAM and Wii U has 1 available.  The answer really is the 720.  Developers are going to want to make games hit as many consumers as possible.  XBox also has a lot of support from western developers as a primary platform. The amount of RAM used for games on 720 will significantly impact the rest of the industry.

Rumors have circulated that 720 would have 4 gig for OS and 4 gig for games.  If this is the case, the extra 3 gig available for games on PS4 is largely irrelevant for multiplats as developers will want the games to run on 720 as well.

If a game can run on 4, can it run on 1?  Maybe.  PS2 ran the same games as XBox with half the RAM.  25% may be enough with some compromises.

In the end the market will decide what is enough RAM and processing power.  If WiiU sells a lot of units, and 720 is using 4 gig then few developers will design games to push the PS4's 7 gig available.  It's just like Blizzard's strategy with WoW, desigining it to be played on as many systems as possible.  And speaking of PC games, that will also be relevant as most multiplats are PC as well so developers will want the game to be able to hit as many of those systems as they can too.

If 720 surprises and goes with say, 12 gig of RAM with 8 available for games, this will have a negative impact on Wii U support, and Wii U will have to be an extremely viable platform to get continued 3rd party multiplats.

Epic demanded 8 GB of ram from Microsoft and Sony. Theres no way MS is wasting half of that on OS. Its 1GB or less no doubt.

Epic also demanded Microsoft go with the memory it did 1/2 Gig of RAM, for the 360, so that they could show how Gears would run.  Microsoft responded and Gears ended up being Gears.  In the end, it ended up the right choice, because the PS3 ended up with .5 GB of memory.

Crysis 3, Diablo 3, Battlefield 3, Watch Dogs, etc., etc., all are able to run on 512MB RAM, so I don't see what's the problem.

Current gen games, yeah, and inferior versions of next-gen games. That's just it, they're (vastly) inferior.

So? people buy them. I'm you can be damn sure they will continue to do so once current gen consoles hit $150.

Theres no way the WIi U could put full 2GB use on the console. At best it could 1.5.

Yep ... it was scaled to what 1GB... on a heavily unoptimized PC.

Exactly Sony was too self dependent and learned their lesson about being more universal in development. Microsoft has no excuse because really they depend on third parties.

microsoft pulling a 2 gig to be closer to nintendo... so developers would focus on both consoles since they will have more market combined.... we are talking about microsoft not wii u... i said for Wii U not Wii U will pull a 2 gig

That doesn't mean the game itself uses 4 GB of RAM. That's the recommended number because on your PC you have other stuff on the background, and thus you need that number for your computer (not the game) to not start going slow. The game itself uses 2 GB of RAM iirc.
