Forums - Music - Daft Punk's RAM - Album's out, it's awesome

Well my German accent is pretty light since I hardly speak German anymore.  Also I speak German without a heay regional dialect that probably helps my German accent being not so heavy also.  Arnolds accent amuses me and most people he can't even properly pronounce the state he lives in for the last 40+ years.

Interesting stuff from Giorgio Moroder. I didn't really focus on his accent, his is pretty decent in comparison with DJ Falcon's.

@okr Those are 3 good songs. You should give Instant Crush and Touch another try.

I found Interstella 5555 at my library the other day! Been wanting to see that for years, ever since I first discovered Daft Punk on a special edition of Toonami Midnight Run.

I agree Instant Crush and Touch are both pretty good also, none of the tracks are what I would consider bad.  The co writer of Touch, Paul Williams is on the same level of brilliance as Giorgio Moroder.

No love for Contact? I thought it was an awesome album closer.

Signature goes here!

Argh this album frustrates me.

I'm all for retro flavors, that's not the problem. Sound quality is good too, of course it is. The problem is that the substance behind that is just not impressive. Obviously they wanted to prove that they can make what they used to sample. Well turns out, they can't. Chord progressions, bass lines, riffs and licks - it's all not particularly catchy. When you sample, you typically sample the brightest moments of some brilliant musician. Inspired moments don't come easy. Take Nile Rodgers! His guitar riffs on RAM are, well, ok. They do the job. It's disco, alright. Are they up there with his best? Not at all.

Also, taste. The one thing where Daft Punk seemed infallible. God, what's with the slide guitars? The brushed drums, the showoffy drumming in general? The overall awfulness of "Fragments of Time"?

Argh I wanted this to be so much better. Btw it puzzles me how people can call this a Disco record. It's a Disco era record, at best.

I get to download the album free (and legally!) through my awesome library!

Let's not forget the best song on the album

"Get Lucky" featuring K.K. Slider (from Animal Crossing)

Amazing. XD

@smeags wtf is that?

@onetwothree Well, it's like they are still humans, and we were caught in the hype and in the expectations. I like the album, and consider it a solid piece of music. They were probably too ambitious, and tried to do too much, but if they didn't executed it perfectly, like their previous works doesn't deny the fact that the music is good. I don't know, I'm liking it, and I even like Fragments of Time.

I LOVE this album. My favourite songs are "Giorgio by Moroder", "Touch", "Get Lucky", and "Contact".
