I had a sudden flashback to desperately trying to tune the spare TV to the Megadrive. We stared at snow and listened to the static, desperately hoping for Sonic's face to appear... Never took a knife to things though, kudos for going above and beyond ;)

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

That reminds me of the Intellivision. I had to splice the rf cable into a coax cable to get it going, as my tvs certainly don't have an antenna anymore to connect it to.

How did you manage to connect composite video to Y/Pb/Pr (green blue red) inputs? Or did it still have a yellow connector as well? A component cable will make it look better, especially the colors. And you can play gt4 in 1080i (upscaled 640x540 don't expect too much from it) Many more support 480p through a key combo.

Component cables enable progressive video and even HD in a few rare cases. If a game supports it, and the 480P (or 1080i) option is set within the in-game settings or upon loading the disc (as necessary), you will see a remarkable improvement in image quality.

The red, white and yellow (AV cords/ composite which almost everyone else calls them) are still on new TVs. You must have confused component with composite. Every new TV has at least one composite input still. If not then you probably bought a ghetto TV at Walmart.

You should have given them a GC with Super Monkey Ball 2, Super Smash Bros Melee, Luigi's Mansion, Rogue Squadron 2, Mario Kart Double Dash, Time Splitters 2, Paper Mario TTYD, F Zero GX, Animal Crossing, Burnout 2, Phantasy Star Online (has local multiplayer), etc...
