awww cmon, a tales game for the PS4 would be huge

It'll come...in time.

And Vesperia 360 didn't almost kill Namco lol.

Well then what exactly did give the Tales studio that massive debt back in 2010?

So a game that sold .11 less than Tales of Graces F almost killed the Tales studio?

If money is they concern, they should go multiplat. Vesperia sales combined reach the level of Symphonia.

the game didn't "nearly" kill them, but the series does belong on the PS3, the sales reflect that

You mean Nintendo. The top game in sales (and in quality up to these days) is Tales of Symphonia, which is exclusive to the Gamecube.

Tales Of Symphonia was released on PS2 in japan with extra content

but i believe the ps2 version had worse frame rate or something like that

Argh the nostalgia.

They make Tales games for the Japanese market, and that market wants Tales games on Sony consoles as evidenced by sales. ToS did very well in the West but the series as a whole doesn't have the pull that ToS did over here.

Well, but we should not take sales as evidence, then! Because Vesperia for 360 sold much more than Vesperia for Ps3, despite being done for a Sony console! And Vesperia lagged 110k units sold against Tales of Graces F, which is a Ps3 exclusive. If you mix 360 and Ps3 sales for Vesperia you've got yourself the top Tales of game regarding sales.

I'm cool for them doing it for Ps3 because of fans, but don't bring up sales. Sales show that there's market for this games in another console, another country.

Vesperia came out a year later in japan than the 360 version and it was ONLY released there.

Tales Of Graces F= Tales Of Graces(Wii) with extra content. Tales Of Graces F also released a year later than the Wii version

I've already admitted that I did not know the real numbers for the game, being Vesperia less profitable for 360 than I thought. xD

Alright so I looked more into what actually "killed" them.

It's a mix of a lot of shares changing hands with the fall of Nihon Telenet and Namco getting the 100% share in stock (Thank you Baldr), low sales of Vesperia, and Graces release on Wii and subsequent recall (for being too buggy.)

There we go.

lol, they still haven't made a current gen yet so why would they move onto next gen? Seriously though, they've been making high res playstation 2 games for the last 7 years.

I don't blame them though, their games don't sell huge amounts so they have to be smart about the budgets and smart they are! whilst they stay releasing games in the franchise which struggle to sell 200k WW, other teams are going bankrupt over games which sell over 1m and still can't cover their development cost.

Honestly the only numbers I would trust are the Japan sales, when it comes to making decisions on what console to develop for. It's pretty clear who's buying Tales games.
WII Symphonia2- 230k
360 Vesperia- 204k
PS3 Vesperia- 413k
WII Graces- 225k
PS3 GracesF- 338k
PS3 Xillia- 665k
PS3 Xillia2- 410k

Graces f is an HD remake, a re-release and Vesperia was sold in Japan on the PS3 a whole year after the 360 version, another re-release.

Anyway, I'm hugely excited about Tales of Xillia (August 6), I've heard it was one of the best in the series.

I just hope they port Tales of Xillia to Wii U or Xbox at some point.
