Kantor said: This video is the funniest things I have seen today and I really wish some of the people posting here would not get so upset about it. No matter how much you like Microsoft, you have to admit that always online is a bad idea, and this guy just presented that point in an interesting way, adding in a little something at the end. |
No I don't. Explain it to me.
|
Several reasons.
1) Internet goes down occasionally in every country, including ours. I know because it has happened to me. It is considerably more common than a powercut, and more common still in rural areas. And Britain, being a European country, has some of the best internet infrastructure in the world.
2) Similarly, there are many countries in which internet data is limited and going above a limit either costs you money or bottlenecks your speed.
3) If the console assumes you will always be online with a fast connection, people with slow connections could have trouble.
4) This could only be a highly restrictive form of DRM, which would likely prevent the resale of used games.

None of the first 3 affect me, and I don't care about 4.
i recall DRM issues on certain games on a certain console this gen... Dont recall a shitstorm of blasting about it though. Again....odd.
|
Would this not affect you?

Even if your internet is fine, you can't guarantee the other end will be.
|
Lol wtf is that made up nonsense. "Xbox error". Lol
never happened to me once in 8 years.
Do you even have a 360?
FYi not that keen on multiplayer any way..... I rarely play it. Go check my post history. I champion single player campaigns all the time.
|
It's a gif made about the rumored DRM. It's not supposed to be a 360, it's the 720...
It's a joke showing a potential problem. Would you like having even single player games disconnect?
|
"It's the 720" it's getting more desperate by the minute.
Lol.
What can I say?.... I never lose connection. Hence I don't care. What's so hard to understand?
|
I also never lose connection. Heck my internet is so fast it's limited by the Ethernet cable plugging me in.

But that's not the point. In a perfect world this system has no negatives, but it also has no positives to the consumer. That in itself is should be seen as bad but I can understand why you're ok with it. I'd be too.
The problem is that we don't live in a perfect world and numerous things could happen on Microsoft's side to stop you from gaming. Too many people could try logging in at once and you couldn't play. Or it could even be hacked and you could go for days without being able to play. Again though I can understand why you're ok with this because it has such a small probability of actually happening or affecting you.
The real problem is that other people aren't as lucky as you and me with their internet. Sales would be much lower do to those unable to play and all the bad press. Why on Earth would you actively want the system to sell worse? This issue is really similar to if they sold the next XBOX for $1,000 yet you were filthy rich. You'd be fine with it, yet the console would crash.
